Site Disappearing

Why is it that during random times during the day the site is not avail or I can get to the main page, but the forums are unavail even though it shows X number of users only.

And right now, I can browse and post, but if I try to open a new window of the site it errors out telling me the site can't be found.

Shouldn't be, I have no issues with anything else or any other forums at all. Just this one. It has been driving me nuts.

high traffic times of the day. there's over 30k registered members with about 1200 members the most ever being on at one particular time. then you got instant PMs, email notification, and all the new posts etc etc.

^+1, that'd be a dns issue, try using 4.2.2.4 as your primary, that's one of InterNic's servers, it'd be a cold day in hell if it went down

what kinda crap advice is that? Obviously if all other sites work for him, his DNS is resolving. Not to mention, his particular dns servers have nothing to do with evom's host. It's not like they are athoritive over the site

it works for everyone else, why wouldn't it work for him?

and since it's not a site wide problem, it's oviously something to do with his connection.

EnJaNir, Flush your DNS cache. Your DNS cache keeps good AND bad entries.

Hit start, click run, type CMD, click OK. When the little black box pops up type in

"ipconfig /flushdns" (without quotes)

Not sure if this will help but its a good start.

Thanks for some of the help guys. The main reason I posted was because I did not know if others were having the issue as well. We will see if it continues to happen or not.

Edit: Cleared all caches, history etc, flushed the dns. It is still happening.

I just had the same thing happen right now actually. I just refreshed and it was all good. If you're making a long post, make sure you copy your message before you hit submit. I posted a really long post on another forum last night that probably took like 30 mins to write up and stupid me didn't copy it before I submitted the post and I got the "Page Cannot Be Displayed" message. I pressed back instead refresh hoping it would still be there and it was all gone! I have a broadband connection so I am not sure what happens. I've had this happen to me on about 3 or 4 other forums.
