dude, people on dsmtuners (for the most part) can tell whether the types of questions they are asking should be in teh beginner forum or advanced. I'm not saying people can only post in one forum or the other, just split it up to make everything a little easier.

and fyi, the evo is not my first mitsu project, or first dsm. between me and my gf we've had 3 others (95 tsi awd, 98 tsi awd, 97 gst) all these cars had upgraded turbos and the tsi's had built motors (the 95 having a 60-1, and the 98 running a evo316g with dsmlink, supporting mods etc..). I assembled both of those motors, I know a good amount about dsm's in general as well as the evo. but i never had any mechanics teaching me the ropes, kinda just went for it so sometimes there are dumb little things I dont know about and I have no qualms (<-spelling?) about posting up. I'm still 21 years old and have only been building these cars for 4 years. There are things I dont know, i'll be the first to say.

BUt I dont think we need a vulture style moderator, maybe at first but eventually people will be able to tell themselves where they should be posting. FOR THE MOST PART EVERYTIME A NEW PERSON POSTS UP A BASIC QUESTION, THEY USUALLY SAY " I KNOW THIS HAS BEEN MENTIONED, I KNOW THIS IS NEW, I KNOW I COULD HAVE SERCHED, ETC...

I think we should try it and if its a headache we can always change it back, its just that it seems that there are alot of people looking to go ***** tot eh wall with their evo and I think there should be a seperate forum for people like that so it doesnt get mixed in with people just looking for basic mods, not saying one type of person is better then another, just saying lets split it up so there isnt so much clutter in one spot., it would be good for both types of people

Ahh... I see. Well I personally dont see the point. The stupid newbie questions are going to get asked anyways.

NOLIMITMOTORS,
Great idea. I'm all for it too. Not only would it be nice for gearheads looking to share advanced information, it would be more comforting for beginners to post in the "regular" engine forum without "getting in the way" of the advanced members discussions.

Yes, but they won't get asked in the Advanced Tuning forum - that's the point.

I can only imagine....

Suggest splitting the forums by part type not "beginner and advanced".

1) Intake / Bov / Exhaust / Cats / Cams / N02 / Clutches / LSDs

2) Headwork (other than Cams) / Bottom End / Turbos & Superchargers

i considered that but sometimes those 2 paths can cross (IE. thread gets posted with the title of "whats bigger, 20g or tme turbo?")

or an in depth discussion about camshaft lift and duration, or quaife LSD questions might really need to be in the advanced forum instead of the beginner.

fair nuff.

even if you just got a separate forum for exhaust / intake / fmic / bov that should cut a third of the traffic out of engine & drivetrain. and its easy for beginners to understand the difference.
