search

guess I need a clue,

for me the search feature is painful to use.

try finding something that uses two words in the search, you get response on each word. the AND function does not compute.

so give me the clue that will make searching better.

take for instance "oil filter" or "oil AND filter" bah.

well thats the idea is the search is there to kind of assist and "try" narrow the forum topics down for you so you can look into each topic decide which one applies to you after the search...

http://www.google.com/advanced_search?hl=en

Use that if you need a more powerful search for this site.

Here's an example. If you want to find info on calipers on this site, here's what you'd type:

calipers site:forums.evolutionm.net

Search

I would have to agree - the insite search is kind of poor but not totally useless - could use a bit more criteria in the advanced search to limit some of the - bumps and what not!

i agree with the OP. i have a hell of a time finding the exact phrase im looking for. plenty of results for individual words in my search, but rarely what im looking for.

u just gotta have some patience. the more u use search the better ull understand how it works. i was a member of this site 6 months before i bought an evo, and it wasnt until about 4 months after i had it that i started posting...and that was just to get my count up so i didnt look like a shltbag. i knew nothing when i first joined, and yet everything i now know about evos and dsm i learned from searching here, and also from buschur, ams, and other knowledgeable evo/dsm sites and forums. it got me from a point where i didnt even know what 4g63 was or what dsm even stood for, to a point where i have done numerous small mods (boost gauge, catback, minor body work and oil changes) by myself, with nothing but regular household tools and the "how to" section. some big keys are learning forum terminology, using the "search titles only" feature of advanced search, and using the registry for pics u wanna see. sorry for the thesis on searching haha.
