A few suggestions!!

1. Limit the total lines of signature users are allowed...something like 5 works well, it makes the board appear much less cluttered when you don't have someone with everything thats in their car (including oil) listed in the sig

2. Disable the custom avitars it also makes the page look a little bit messy...I am not sure if EvoM hosts them or not, but if not it could make the page load slower if people are on a slower gallery server.

3. Is there anyway to make PMs pop-up because that is a really nice feature.

4. Get rid of the 50 posts rule for the for sale forums...Many people use forums where they know people (offtopic.com, npboards.com, vwvortex.com, carlounge.net, etc.) where they do the majority of their posting, and many people just really don't have much interest in discussion boards...But selling and buying (mostly buying) is something that pretty much everyone wants a part of...instead of having people make pointless posts (bump, bagel, ) just make it open or make the timeframe a month or something.

Overall, I like the forums and try to post more but when you post upwards to 20-30 times per day on another forum you simply run out of time.

There is a word count limit on sigs.

You can manaully disable avatars in your User CP

3. Is there anyway to make PMs pop-up because that is a really nice feature.
Yes, check your options in the User CP. There is a check box for "Pop-up Notification upon new PM reciept"

4. The classifed posting rule is to help prevent seller scams, and the system works fairly well. If anything, it should be upped to further protect our memebers, but that is my own personal opinion.

If you want to purchase something, PM the seller.

Overall, I like the forums and try to post more but when you post upwards to 20-30 times per day on another forum you simply run out of time.
Thanks, welcome, and enjoy your stay.

Jeremy covered it best.

What I'd add is this - if you have time to post 20-30 times per day on another forum, it shouldn't be hard to add 5 more minutes of EvoM. We want 50 posts because we want the people in the Classifieds to be active members of the site, not just anyone that joins.

If you refuse to do the 50 posts but demand to use the Classifieds, that just screams "scammer" to me. Because it shows that you don't care about EvoM at all, but you want to use us.

As always, if you're unhappy with our rules, we do apologize, but they are in place for the good of EVERYONE.

I wanted to note that you can also disable signatures in your User CP.

For what its worth, we do try police obnoxious signatures.

I think that the post counts should be at least 100 to post in SALE. Also, that the post count under Location should be replaced with the IP address that was used for that post, and a search feature that allows any user to find all usernames and posts made by that IP. But what do I know, I am a d00b, still. Oh, yeah, and the Newbie period should also include at least 6 months + 100 posts.

We do not want everyone's IP addresses to be viewable to the public. If a situation arises where some sort of "trace" is needed, please notify the appropriate staff member(s), and we can evaluate the situation and move forward from there.

just a quick extra...how is it that I still see people posting for sale items with less than 50 posts...or if they have 50 they have posted 3 or 4 times in the thread? Just curious

And if you see something like what you describe, you can always report the post, or even PM me with details and I'll see what I can do (if it's in my section). Inappropriate FS posts are high on my list of things to fix when I see them, though I can't be everywhere!!

with the old forum you could click "recent threads" and a list of the entire days threads would pop up... is that coming back?

i'm not a fan of how only 10 recent threads show up... there are at least another 10-12 people that i've spoke to that agree... and im sure many more

other than that, its so much better than before, not many people have said it..

but GREAT JOB!

CHEERS!

trust me I understand 100%...I also moderate a automotive board (vwvortex) and with over 300k users it is impossible to keep things in check even though there is probably 70 or so mods...
