Driving Techniques Forum?
heh...i dont see that really being at all effective. you can not just learn what to do by reading it...if anything all you are gonna do is cause the stupid people to try and drift because some guy on the internet gave him direction on how to.

Personally, even if Evo Penguin were right (for once
) it certainly can't hurt to have, can it? As long as people don't go around trying stupid crap and getting themselves in trouble. I think it's a good idea, but you may want to express some sort of disclaimer that some of the things may not be legal and that it's at our discretion to determine what is and is not legal/safe. I like the idea, but I'm also going to express a bit of concern I guess. Lord knows maturity, common sense, and driving ability don't grow on trees.

There is already a disclaimer on this site that should cover it. Maybe it should also say something like "Don't try this at home" for the kids that participate in this forum....
o.k., let me start, as I am scandinavian, I'll explain the Scandinavian Flick as well as I can. The reason it was invented was to get cars which were hard to get unstable into a drift, or to get cars to drift when it's required, even in todays WRC you can still see the Skandinavian Flick being used, but usually it's just a quick "hint" and not as big as back in the days.
o.k.,
1. you approach a corner that you want to use the SF on... (when trying this, use a big, wet carpark with lots of space, or ideally a skidpad)
2. before you reach the corner you yank the car into the opposite direction of where you are going to turn eventually, so basically if it's a right turn you approach the corner on the inside and turn sharp left to the left side of the road, basically like a very quick line change,
3. then when you reach the corner you throw the car into the right hander and the unsettled backend of the car should step out and results in a nice drift. (don't forget to countersteer, or you'll just spin)
Obviously this is just the theory, and to time the flick and the turn-in into the corner is the real secret and quite difficult, also depending a lot on what car you are using, it can be that it is almost impossible to do it with some cars, and other cars won't need the flick to make the back step out. On an Evo it is quite easy to do on a wet surface and the car is very easy to control in a drift, you basically just slam the throttle down as you feel the drift coming and then you can adjust the angle with the steering and throttle.
Now, don't go and terrorise any local shopping centres kids....hehehe

With a big sticky disclaimer, I think a "Driving Technique" forum is a MUST.
Thanks MichaelK for the 1st technique, this is good stuff.
Hope to see that forum soon, I can imagine it being full of good posts
