left foot braking technique

any pointers on how to learn this driving style. what to do to get the boost up while turning etc. I haven't really tried to much of this yet bt it feels very uncomfortable trying to drive braking with my left foot thanks

I guess the easiest way i learned a couple years ago was just slowing down with my left foot and then braking with my right again during daily driving, now i don't even use my right for braking in AutoX its all left foot, its also great for scooting the car around SHARP corners

it doesn't take long to get the proper feel with your left foot. what takes a LOT longer is learning WHEN to use LFB.

cool are you guys slipping your foot off the side so you can switch back and forth to the clutch or are you guys completely like moving your foot over it? thanks

Usually when you have to left foot brake you have already choosen the gear you want so there is no need to clutch until, of course, you top out that gear, which is then a matter of how fast you can shift. During AutoX i launch then bang 2nd and then just move my foot over for the whole race b/c there is no need to shift after that.

yes, im really never off the gas when i race, i think i counted and i lifted completly off once or twice during one race but thats about it. Be ready to go through pads and rotors if you drive hard!

wouldn't suprise me too much about the pads and rotors
you are not actually trying to accelerate buy pressing the gas just keeping the snails spooled right?

this is what i have gathered from reading about it. i have been playing around a little with it myself. a nice wide parking lot is a good place to get a feel for it. it is still very strange and new to me, but i am planning on going to race school this summer, so hopefully i will be able to get a better grasp on it there.

thought tricky, it does seem to work very well though. with just a little bit of pressure on the gas i can hold the rpm's right in the boost zone and then just let off after the apex.

just make sure not to do it on the street you first couple times trying it. my left foot isn't sensitive in the right way for braking yet, and the first couple times i almost put myself through me window. hehe. lucky i was going slowly in a big lot.

Depends on the corner, like i said earlier in the thread sometimes keeping on the gas lightly while left foot braking helps scoot you around the sharp corners. Its really how you feel what your car is going to do best. Kinda hard to explain. In wider corners yes it will keep the turbo spooled but if you are on the brakes too hard it can hurt your corner speed resulting in up to a second or two loss on the lap time. Its really something that need to be used comfortably and perfectly before competition so then during it will be the most effective. Just work on it daily and don't just try it during a race unless you are ready.

Edit* First time i used it was in a RallyX with my first Evo a couple years ago, it was very effective and a good learning experiance on the dirt, im not saying go off roading but thats where i learned how to really use it

get on a track and you will have more room and will be at speeds to justify left foot braking
