Why don't "Vendors" post the freaking prices?
Actually in this particular industry (sport compact aftermarket performance parts), many companies carry a MAP policy. I know this first hand. I also know first hand that this is why some of the vendors do this. The second main reason is to not show competitors their price. A third reason is obviously to draw people in to communication. More and more of these import performance brands are carrying MAP policies to make an attempt at slowing down the whoring out of product.
As for the "lowest price in history", yes, most are BS as how could they know. There are/have been a couple vendors on here selling specific products that are able to semi truthfully say that as they had very special connections with the manufacturers. I can think of one of the top of my head, but he is no longer a vendor

If someone wants to know someone's pricing its very easy to get a different screen name and ask.
I just post my prices. Why bother with 500 pm's a day.
I fortunatly dont have this stealing problem since I deal direct with my overseas makers, or 1st party usa dist. I also deal with my Dist. on a personal level. I also dont have to deal with me and 5 other people buying from the same wholesaler then reselling the same things.
I look at it this way, if you want to see what I am using or making, youll have to buy it. Even then I made a sale.
Last thing is no one will be beat my customer service or availible options. Guess its a good thing when your in a industry that involes more than just reselling parts. Thats why guys like me who make custom parts will never be beat. Not even by ebay giants. Guys like me deal in quaility, not quanity.
Guess I added nothing. Oh well.

I do it simply to avoid customers pming other vendors with my pricing to get a lower price and then come back to me with their price and try to have me undercut their price...yea they could still do it after they have pmed me but its a little more work for them and honestly since I switched to the pm for pricing i have had a lot less can you beat this price pms...

No offense, but I don't buy it. I know the world of retail sales, dealing with distributors, and advertising on the internet in forums. I don't buy that the majority of product manufacturers (Evo) stipulate a minimum advertised price. You can spend 20 minutes researching vendors on here, and see that it's quite evident there's no leash put on them by the distributors or manufacturers.
It's like this market is still young and hasn't weeded out all the fly-by-night "operations", and the big ones haven't yet solidified themselves as the major players, have yet to take a big enough chunk of the marketplace to cut down on the amount of resellers, and there's still a lot of scammers looking for an easy buck. Heck, I remember seeing an ad on here by a vendor, selling "Stroker" pistons. Whether the guy just has no idea of what he's selling, or he was looking for someone to bite on a scam. Either way, in a marketplace that's already settled itself, you really wouldn't see this kind of thing. I dont know how much biz they get out of the selling forums, but my experience tells me one guy could pop in there, list and sell products at a reasonable price, stock the items he's selling, so the customer receives it in a timely manner, be honest, and provide good support, and I'd think he'd clean up within a year. Word of mouth is worth a lot more than paid advertising. That's just my $.02

Think what you want but MAP policies are a reality. Nearly EVERY manufacturer has the policy in effect to protect their brand. That being said it doesn't mean all vendors are following these policies nor are all manufacturers keeping tabs. BUT if you are caught by a manufacturer who IS keeping tabs, you can lose your vendor status with them. It has happened and will continue to happen.
Here's a list of products. Please tell us which ones have a "MAP" and what percentage of list it is.
Rays/Volk
Gram Lights
Work
Rota
Advan
Enkei
Bride
Sparco
Seibon
Exedy
Crower
Tanabe
Tein
Ohlins
JIC
Whiteline
I've gone to websites and seen prices for some of this stuff that was well below 20% off list. I bought a certain kind of wheel at 30% off list, and it was listed plainly on the website.
Oh yeah..? Then why is it that you can go to the vendor website, and you'll see "Low" prices listed on there?

As I've said, just because there is a policy in place doesn't mean it's followed or enforced.
Why are you so insistent on not believing MULTIPLE vendors/sources stating this? In the end, does it really matter?
so i guess stillen and other such performance shops are not ad erring to the polices by posting prices. seems a little fishy to me more like trying to rip us off. does not make sense to me as you would want people to come to you based on the advertised price.

MOST manufacturers have a MAP policy. The map policy is for authorized dealers buying direct from the company. You bet your *** they monitor pricing. You bet your *** your competitors will turn you in to them also if you are not abiding. Some resellers sell indirectly by buying from an authorized dealer, whoring out the market, but that is a whole other thread.
Carbonetics, Apexi, Cosworth, Horchel Motorsports are three off the top of my head that have threatened evolutionm.net legally over the years for vendors listing their products and name below map pricing. Apexi has even gone to the extent of contacting my webserver host who what threatened legally and forced us to remove some products from our site or face cancellation of our serving agreement.
IT IS REAL and not some conspiracy of bad vendors looking to screw over members.
Evom is the best auto performance marketplace and forum on the internet. Its like that because it has great administrators such as CharlesJ and Speedlimit doing a excellent job. The fact that this thread itself is even allowed to exist should tell any member what kind of free and honest marketplace this is here.
If BEST PRICE is all a member cares about, ebay is for you. Good luck when it comes time for a warranty circumstance, technical assistance, and product knowledge.
If you find an ebay member with the BEST PRICE that has our 13 years of 4g63 technical and mechanical experience, we will send you a free gift.
