Why don't "Vendors" post the freaking prices?
This is the only forum (I mainly peruse motorcycle forums) I come to where the freakin vendors rarely post prices. They'll post up "Lowest Prices In the History Of Mankind", but when you open the fuggin thread, it's always "PM For Prices"
What gives? Are they worried that other vendors will see what they're selling them for? They can PM and find that out. I get the impression that maybe the pricing is not really the "Lowest Ever" and maybe they're worried that someone will post up a link of the same part(s) being sold for less. They could simply post their pricing and a price-match guarranty. One big difference I've noticed in other forums where vendors actually give the pricing, I don't recall ever seeing the blatant "I have the lowest pricing ever" verbage in the post(s). They're generally along the lines of, "This is the product, this is list, and this is what I'm selling it for. A savings of X%"
What's wrong with a little honesty and integrity, and simply posting up the prices of what you're selling? If they're as low as 99% of them say they are, then there should be no worries.
In any event, I know I've opened threads regarding items I'm interested in, and passed on it, because I don't feel like writing out a PM, and waiting for a return PM. Maybe I'm just lazy..

i agree w/ the OP........ that and i hate how the "people working for this site" somehow hide the bad commments and protect vendors even if they are shady/liars... seriously.. theres good ones out there and bad ones... its hit or miss..
i've seen people post about companies.. like.. "their service is awesome, their customer support is great, prices great, free install... blah blah blah.." ... only to find out.. its actually guys that work for that company.. and theyre just beefin it up.. hahaha and forget about callin any vendor out on here... you will def. get a warning or banned or "points" or w/e stupidness the mods/admins feel like doin..
oh.. and good luck finding out why? it seems to be just like people not discussing how much they get paid... everythings a secret nowadays... hahaha

I'll agree with most of that. There is entirely too much
::shifty eyes:: going on here on EvoM between vendors. It's kind of sad but I guess it should be expected because I can't see any Circuit City manager telling you how much they like shopping at Best Buy... even if it's true.
On the other hand, the mods and admin on this site are supposed to keep the interests of the site first. The only way to do that is protect the advertisers and vendors on the site. They offer a conflict resolution procedure and allow you to post negative reviews after following the procedure; I think that's sufficient for all intents and purposes.

Evom is unique because of the number and quality of registered vendor. We have many of the top tuners and part's houses in the US. And they post in technical threads and their own forums. That knowledge sharing is an asset to the site. Evom's format (they are all together) creates "real time" competition between vendor's whose products and services overlap. My hunch is they have learned to advertise their stuff and negotiate the price privately. I would do that as opposed to providing my competitor's with a written diary of my sales strategies and discounts. (if any).
Evom also does something unique relative to negative posts such as "vendor x sucks". We actually hold the poster responsible for their statements. We are dealing with people's livelihood and treat the statements accordingly. The issues are reviewed by a staff member (CharlesJ) with the goal of finding a solution. I'll argue that Evom is one of the best sites to sort out a vendor to meet a member's purchase decision. And the reason is threads are kept civil and as factual as possible. The site is not choked with zillions of second hand, unsubstantiated accusations concerning vendors. That makes it impossible to find credible reviews.
Having the top vendor's from across the country is Evom's greatest asset and at times it's greatest weakness. That weakness is the difficult job for the moderator's to balance the vendor's expectation of fair reviews and access to many customers with the members expectation of fair reviews and freedom to comment on their experiences. And the gamesmanship between vendors that can breakout into flame wars. We do a good job, in my opinion, to serve both vendor and member's and their is ample information to make a purchase decision. There are always grey areas and sometimes we get it wrong, but overall the site's policy benefits both. Searching any vendor here will provide a good overview. Rarely do Evom vendor's intentionally ripped someone off. When that occurs they are removed.

The bottom line is this: If you really believe that what your selling these products for is actually "The Lowest Price Ever To Be Seen On The Internet", you'd post up what it is, because it is actually "The lowest price ever to be seen on the Internet".
HA....now that was amusing
Its very simple....if they had to post the prices, they would not be as good, and they do not want to let other vendors know what they are selling it for as well
Resellers are bound by a thing called minimum advertised prices (MAP). By giving you a price through PM, they can avoid violating this

Also to add to Speedlimit's comments, which are dead on:
When it comes down to a member or vendor, the member will win everytime. If a Vendor fails to treat our members properly, they can and have been removed from the site. We are aware how it looks from a reader standpoint when things disappear, but what most fail to see is when they come back and a vendor is removed, or when the issue is resolved and both are happy, or the customer was wrong and the vendor was being unjustifiably attacked. All three cases happen. Most often, violations complaints are cause by simple miscommunication that are easily cleared up. And how would you feel as a loyal vendor if you reputation and business were negatively affected over a stupid miscommunication that may have not even been your fault. So all we do is try to make it fair for both sides, and work with people to create resolutions. I should really sticky an FAQ about this topic, because i get comments about negative comments being removed all the time, and the first conclusion people jump to is that we coverup our vendors and screw members just for money which is ridiculous. No vendor is worth any of our members suffering.

You know how many product manufacturing companies have this policy? Less than 1/10th of 1%. I'm willing to bet it's even less than that with the companies we're dealing with here. How's that, you ask? I'll tell ya.. When a products manufacturing company has done enough business, and gained enough of a reputation, that they can now start dictating terms of sale to protect their image, is require a "Brick and Mortar" store to sell their product(s). Why? Because it'll limit the amount of fly-by-nighters that screw people selling their products. Another thing they require is a minimum "buy-in". You have to purchase "X' amount of product for your first order. I'll take a guess at how many "Vendors" on here have actual "Brick and Mortar"stores, and say it's less than 30%. About the same with vendors that actually stock what they sell. I'm gonna take another stab at the percentage of vendors that even have a good reason for not posting prices, and say 20%. Like NFL coaches covering their mouth's on the side-line when they send in plays.. One guy did it because he was fearful that the other team employed lip-readers, and now the rest of 'em do it, and they don't even know why, and don't know that the chance of this actually happening is about the same as them having the same job in 5 years... very small.

I don't have a problem with a dealer listing parts for sale, and asking to be contacted for pricing. I do have a problem when said vendor blasts: "Lowest Prices Ever Since The Beginning Of Time. Nobody Can Touch My Prices", and then doesn't post the prices. If what he wrote was true, he'd have no problem posting what they were...yes? These guys aren't the only ones selling on the internet. Seems like everybody else is able to deal with posting their prices, probably because they're confident in what they are. Like I wrote earlier.. If you don't want to have someone undercut you, you simply post your price and the phrase "Lowest Price Guaranteed" Simple as that
