why posts don't count?

Why do only a third of my posts actually show up in my post counter in my avatar? I can make 3 posts in an hour, and it'll only go up one. Today was my first post of the day, and it's still the same number it was yesterday yet again.

MY post count should be mad higher son....dang.

doesn't it depend on the section your in? try something that's not in the "for sale" section or "off topic" I don't think they count. What does it matter anyway, you have enough to sell things...haha lol.

Post count is insignificant. The ONLY meaningful function it serves is to allow users to post in the marketplace. Other than that, it controls a few title options that have no bearing on anything. I can guarantee that ultimately people will judge you based on the content of your posts and what you bring to a discussion, not the number next to "Posts:" under your avatar.

Posts in some forums do not count towards your post count. For example, Off Topic and regional forums do not count. Any automotive or technical forum will count. On topic forums are closely watched by the staff, thereby ensuring that the vast majority of posts in these areas are garbage posts. The system was set up this way to give a quick indicator of contribution. Posts that benefit the community are counted for this reason, those in forums that are more "fluff" than filler are not.

i usually post in Engine/Drivetrain, and EVO General, that's about it. I never post in off topic really. and it isn't really that big of a concern to me, but just letting it be kown.

honestly.....why does it matter? There is absolutely nothing special about having a high post count.......other than it shows that one has no life (see my post count, jk).

the post count measures absolutely nothing. yet it matters to some as if it was a measure of your knowledge or experience with cars.........

funny

Yeah. I think the vast majority of people will notice the content of the post before they even look at post count. And number of posts is hardly a measure of experience. Anyway, I hope I answered your question satisfactorily.

Yea don't worry about the number. Like everyone has said, quality over quantity.

Hobie, I had somewhere between 500-1,000 posts back in 03' and sometime between then and 07' they were all deleted and my counter started over. Any reason for this?

MrMeaner, ss RobertK mentioned, when we had server moves/changes there was a mass pruning of older threads that may have effected you. I can't say for sure, but that's the likely culprit. Either that or the vast majority of your posts were in forums that no longer count towards post count.

My post count dropped by thousands back then.

Yeah the posting here is silly, You have to have so many posts before you can sell anything which is rather discouraging since you own the car. Even if it were a scam you just would have to post alot first. scam artists are determined so it dosnt really matter to them...
