regional club subforums?

i'm trying to help our club (north texas evo club, aka NTEC) organize a little better, and its always been talked about getting our own subforum within the south region forum. is this possible? are there requirements for how many members the club has to have, or how active we are? there are a few threads we would like sticky and such to help the club grow and a subforum will give us a place to do that. thanks!

Don't you guys already have a website? Wouldn't it be easier to add a forum to it? That's what all the other evo clubs do on here.

Just saying this since we aren't even making subforums for vendors ATM, so I doubt a club would get one...

I think that your idea is a slippery slope that we do not wish to get into at this time. You may of course feel free to continue using our Regional forums for organizing, etc within our rule structure, but I think a dedicated sub-forum is a bit too much.

how about giving one of the members/club leaders moderator rights in the regional forum so he can sticky certain posts like the event calander, an upcoming meet, club information etc?

So since you can't have your own subforum, you want to turn the South region into the NTEC area?

Where does it end then? If we do that for you, then we have to do it for everyone who claims they have a group to represent, and the Regionals then look like a mass of advertisements. Sorry, but if you have a request, PM a Regional Mod and they will be glad to look into it.

Well, I think that perhaps the issue lies more specifically in the generality of the regional forums. Honestly I don't frequent any of the other regional forms on this site, but on one of the other sites I've frequented, NASIOC, they have realized that Texas, by itself, has sufficient activity to warrant its own regional forum.

On a lark I just checked out the South forum, and of the 30 normal threads that show up on my screen 16 of them were started from persons I recognize as being in the Dallas area, or inquiring specifically about something in the Dallas area. The others were split among Ft Hood, Austin, and Houston.

Yes, NTEC does have its own website hosted on Google Apps. At this point in time, a forum of our own on that system is not feasible (mainly because I have a day job - and not enough time to spend with my wife and kids anyway).

Where I do take exception, however, is merging all of our social threads into one mega thread. The fallout of this is that _all_ of those threads have been rendered moot by the merge since none of us are going to waste our time using the search function to try and glean if this mega thread might have information useful to us.

Well, how many social threads does 1 club need? I understand what you're saying, but you have to understand that we're really not in the business of providing forums for every club that wants the bandwidth. We don't mind you guys having a thread or 2 or 3, but any more than that is really a bit much, IMO.

It might be something new to you all, but it really does help with the clutter. Just see the examples below.

https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/so...b-raleigh.html

15,000+ posts in that thread, all regional, no issues.

https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/so...emevo-sfl.html

43,000+ posts in that thread, all regional, no issues.

https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/we...egas-evos.html

48,000+ posts in that thread, all regional, no issues.

https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/we...iego-evos.html

4,000+ posts for 1 town, no issues.

https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/we...a-anybody.html

4,000+ posts for 1 town, no issues.

I can understand not having a sub forum for clubs, the site would be full of club threads.... but I do think there is enough posting in the South forum by Texas alone to justify a subforum in the south forum for Texas.... check the post, the entire front page is from Texas, and it continues...

and please dont give me the line " do you think I have time to look at all the threads...." you can scan the first page in like 10 seconds and see the evidence.

Hi!

You guys are really decreasing the incentive to do anything when your comments are somewhat adversarial. We are looking at some other IB sites that have tried clubs to get an idea of the impact on the entire community. My concerns are local 'cliques' that can develop that will not benefit all members. Additionally, whether such clubs have the ability to police themselves. We have heard your request. Please give us some time to review and make a decision. Thanks.
