SOPA Blackout?

Was just curious with all the talk of SOPA going around if EvoM was possibly considering a blackout day. Reddit just announced that on 18 Jan they will be doing a total blackout from 8am-8pm that day, and the page will have all the info on SOPA and what could/would happen if it actually gets passed. It's not a bad idea, I think most of us could go for 12 hours without EvoM, plus it would really spread the word for those who are unfamiliar with SOPA and the crap that will ensue if it gets passed.

I really hope Evom does not take part. There are enough SOPA threads on here and the last thing we need is Evom itself entering the political sphere.

Hi,

I'm not aware of any plans to do so. Thanks.

Even with the half a brain, you get around it, it would be illegal for you to do so.
Anything anywhere where there is a original owner you can t use it. references, any info on Mitsubishi unless the copyright owner of Mitsubishi give you permission from to the copyright, it would be illegal.

It would be against the law for you to get around. Technical data about Mitsubishi would be against the copyright laws unless you have permission from Mitsubishi to publish such info..

While there are some people in this country who recognize the implications, I think most of the general public are too stupid or ignorant to care.

In which case, let's just support all these stupid measures and give the public what they deserve.

which is why our country is where it is, congress and our government is out of control ... and not enough people care to educate them selves.

I hate the fact that we have to deal with this and the SOPA rules now....It sucks but think about what brought us here. If we cant police ourselves we get regulation...All this leads back to illegal downloads and usage of all kinds as pointed out. While. it was cool to get pics, music, movies etc for free at that cool site, well it aint there no more and now we get the govt looking over our shoulder to make sure. Interesting, but the reference movie used was Fast Five, 2million copies sold, 9 million illegally downloaded. Now if I was anyone getting a percentage of these sales and saw these number where I was only getting 20% of what I should have made...I'd be pissed too and pushing for SOPA for that reason. Cut the cr#p and start doing the rt thing before we get more of this coming from gov't!

Did more people illegally download fast five because they were too embarrassed to buy it?

I agree that illegal downloads probably fueled the fire whereas something like this forum isn't hurting Mitsu, except maybe the dealers service department since a lot of people encourage others to do their own work.

I would like to see the bill not passed, but I understand that people not getting credit where it is due would be frustrating.

If piracy didn't exist, and Fast 5 wasn't illegally downloaded 9 million times, there's still no way they would've sold an additional 7 million copies.

They probably lost some sales (at theaters, dvd/bluray, vod) because of piracy, but it's also very likely that the movie was downloaded so many times simply because people just like getting free stuff.. not that they would've necessarily watched the movie at all if piracy never existed and they had to pay for it.

And like every effort before it, SOPA & Protect IP will only deter piracy for so long.. it will probably just push file-sharers to new technology and distribution methods. Usenet to P2P, to torrents, to file lockers, to private trackers & anonymous censorship-resistant P2P, to something else entirely new.

If the labels really want to end piracy, they should look into a system similar to Pandora.. maybe an entirely free, ad-supported version of Hulu & Netflix. Or.. stop producing all media for an entire year, and see if anyone actually misses watching their endless amounts of total crap.

Just my 2-cents, of course

You guys should do more research....

This bill was introduced by Lamar S. Smith.
The same guy that takes money donation from lobbyists for Wine, Beer, & Liquor.
Doesnt answer to no one, facebook or his office phone.

This same guy was trying to introduce Digital Milllennium Copyright Act many years back.

He is wealthy.
He is against abortion & Marijuana.

But all for getting drunk because he is getting donation from Beer, Wine, and Liquor Lobby as third among Smith's top ten campaign contributors.

Cheers!
