getting rid of the avatars and sign.

Hi,

i was just wondering why do we need the avatar and the sign. line? i think that if we get rid of this we can improve the site quality in a number of ways:

1) less bandwidth used.

2) cleaner posts without the very long sign. lines some people use.

3) since 90% of the avatars are identical anyway, i don't think it makes and difference.

if it does infact free some bandwidth, i recommand that we instead be able to post pics direct to the website. i have been trying to explaing things several time because i couldn't post the diagrams on here.

thanks

bandwidth isn't an issue here....its utilization, specifically memory

so you do agree with me that we need to get rid of them?

i have been a member on nasioc for the past 3 years and it is just cleaner without all these avatars and stupid signature lines that people use (the disclaimer for example)

Agreed,
Plus you don't have to worry about an avatar of a scantally clad chick popping up when you are at work.

I like the the idea of having an avatar. I like seeing all the custom ones, but I do get tired of seeing the same one for a bunch of people.

I don't think he's saying they aren't fun to have... just could have a cleaner site without them.

I'm not 100% certain, but I believe that you have the option to not view signatures and avatars if you prefer. Check your forum options... I could be wrong though.

Oh ya and I like the avatars, sometimes I can tell a person posted something just by their custom avatar.

like mark said, i do like them and everything but with so many people using the same one and 85% of the members putting that retarded disclaimer in their signeture line, it gets annoying. also, i would rather have a faster site than seeing some naked chik avatar dancing on my screen when i am working

p.s

Mark, did you get my 3 e-mails about what Hobie talked to you about?
