just to put my two cents in. I might be just me, to have the "EVO" name on the top of the site kind of make me feel like I shouldn't belong. I felt more accepted when It had Lancer on it.
That's just my 2cents
so Brian offered me a link to a new forum and i said, "not now". still doesn't put you in the right. and no, it's not hard to be a member of two, infact i currently belong to 4 forums.
Anthony, don't get pissed because I brought up RECENT history that totally contridicts what you say. No one is asking you to ditch these forums... it's really hard to be a member of two, isn't it? Fact is, you were offered the opportunity to join a new fledgling site, and refused, and, yes that is your business, but, to sit here and say that you will help ANY new forum without hesitation... that's just hypocritical. Deal with it. As for whining, you know what, if you disagree with me, that's fine. That's your business too, but, you sound like you're whining now yourself. You don't like what I have to say, then, unsubscribe to this thread. And as for *****ing about things you can't change... how is this something that can't change? Why else would there be a SITE FEEDBACK portion if this wasn't the very thing it was meant for? Sometimes, when someone disagrees with something, they can grow a sack and say something about it, not sit by and play the quiet push over.
That is the first time I have been pissed off about this forum in a long time (for real). For the rest of you...
Mark, you said exactly what I wanted to hear. First, let me say that I kind of feigned the amount of concern I had over this whole deal, and purposely made my remarks inflammatory, and overdramatic in hopes that the "squeeky wheel would get the grease." Sorry, but, it was a little ruse to get information. Other than some people's immature remarks, this really isn't an issue I'm heated up about. If I sounded like I was, it was merely to try and get a quick, accurate response... the meek might inherit the earth, but, they hardly get attention and the information they want. Seriously, I don't think that you want to change the current set ups, but, the new name suggested something to the effect the rumor mill was pumping out, and, I knew it would just fuel the fire, so, I felt that instead of the forums losing their solidarity, a clearing of the air was needed. Took it upon myself, you might say. I'm sure that whatever you say will never be enough for the real conspiracy theorists (zealots, Paul, zealots), but, for the more sane of us, it's enough.
Claudius: Your car does say Lancer, but, it also says Evolution. Like I said previously, I referred to it differently for brevity's sake, since writing "the current USDM Lancer ES/LS/OZ Rally edition" can make the fingers tired as well as the "the upcoming Evolution VII/Evolution VIII/Lancer Cedia Turbo/Ralliart Evolution". When I was referring to Egotism and Elitism, I was referring to other sites. Seems some other forums have that problem... *cough*lancerz.com*cough*... damn these summer colds. Honestly, the only science fiction I enjoy is a passing interest in Star Wars (not a die hard.... never, ever would dress up like a Jedi or whatever), and some Stephen King. I do like to read, and am an aspiring writer, was a master debater (ha ha), and a pretty good typist, so, this is pretty much an exercise for me. Not a real passion thing.
Hooby, you're perfectly right, but, don't pretend that you wouldn't be pissed if Mark shut this mother down tomorrow. I love this site, and, while I'm not as passionate as others about the issue, I do have some passing concern as a member. While this is totally Mark's control, and may he correct me if I'm wrong, but, in being the administrator of a sub community, he probably feels a responsibility to the members of said sub community, at least I would if I was in his position. As for the Evo owners being tolerant... let's be honest, that's a two way street. Crap gets passed both ways. But, the good news about that is that the regular posters usually (there are SOME exceptions) have some respect for other usual posters, and have realized that we are on the same team, here. The ones who dish out the bull**** usually don't last long. Nobody likes being where they aren't wanted.
And to all concerned: really, I don't mind the site's name, but, the insinuation that is presented DOES kind of bother me, not to the extent of others, but, it's there. I don't expect Mark to totally rename the site, because that's just ridiculous. I did want assurances for myself and others that the Lancer wouldn't be shunned for a new model car. I thought that would be a bit of a small tragedy, and an all around pretty ****ty thing to do. So, I did want some reassurence, and, I did want to put some rumors to rest, something I think that the moderators and administrator would have done if they had been aware of the rumors that were circulating in the first place.
AGAIN... I wasn't really angry about it, but, I did want information, and the attitude I assumed was to get said information in a TIMELY way. If you think it was a little over the top... study Huey Long. Sometimes to get people motivated, you gotta really be pissed or at least sound like it.

To tell you the truth....I wouldn't be pissed AT ALL if this site got shut down tommorow. I know what kind of $$$ it takes to keep a site like this goin, and what kind of moderation, and after hours work.
Seriously just relax. The Evo owners aren't about to let the Lancer owners go anywhere else...you have just as much right to be here as we do. If anything the Evo owners are fighting even MORE than the Lancer owners for you to remain.
Just chill and let the site run just like it had before.

*unknots everyone's panties*
OK, guys...can we have a little more
going on?
I think it's pretty obvious that we as USDM Lancer owners aren't going to be shut out of the site.
Personally, this site has given me a ton already since I bought my Lancer in June. It's got information on ALL Lancer models, not just the USDM/JDM ones. Look at the Ozzies (ozzie ozzie ozzie, oi oi oi!) and the Germans...they come here to exchange information too.
I'm staying. How about you?

Hooby: Re-read my last post. I’m not in the least pissed (at least about the real subject of this thread), and therefore don’t need relaxing, thank you very much. The whole point I made in the last post was that in order to get the kind of information I wanted, it would have been counterproductive to come in acting all meek, saying, “Uh, gee guys, but, is this gonna happen?” I would have gotten a “No, it’s not.” And while that would have been enough for some people, I think that it falls short of what was gained here by the method I took. Like I said before, the squeaky wheel gets the grease. I just merely squeeked loudly where others whispered. I didn’t think I was gonna get banned for a second, but, a little melodrama added the flavor that I wanted. As said, it was merely a method of obtaining information. I was willing to make myself look like a little bit of an overly worried a-hole in order to get the information that might make those on the fence about the issue get both sides of the story. Information that would lead to further solidarity of the forums, by which all could benefit. There may be nothing that Mark could say that would comfort the “zealots” who won’t believe until the time comes, but, at least it could calm down some of the others.
As for pissed, maybe that was the wrong term. Disappointed, maybe would be better, yes? I think that we would all be disappointed to see, in my opinion, the only half-way decent forum that is at the level it is at, this stage in the game. Even those with first hand knowledge of the time, effort, and cash needed to keep a site afloat like this would be disappointed to see it go. I know I would.
Rasputin: Panties firmly unknotted, and have been for some time. I don’t think I’d say that it was OBVIOUS, because it would be impossible for it to be obvious if all the info was out in the open, like it is now. Now, I don’t know why going to another forum would be considered “leaving” this one. I am a member of both this one and the newest one, as are a lot of the regular posters on this one. I guess I don’t understand why it would be thought of by some as a kind of betrayal of these forums to go to another one, because, for God’s sake, it’s just an internet forum, not a country. There have been nothing but friendly relations between this forum and others, I mean, come on look at how many crossovers there are between this and the Mirage forums (something that has been very useful in the ES suspension situation), the DSM forums, and the Eclipse forums. In short, the only limit to membership of the various forums of the net is limited only to the time you are willing to devote to it. The internet is great for the ability to trade information (and ****, for some people) on subjects in which information may be construed as trivial and menial by the general public. So, why make these boundaries of membership and loyalty, and make questions of staying and leaving? The only reason I brought this up with Anthony is due to the obvious double standard he was presenting in recent history by saying he would gladly help to get another forum up running, and full of members, but, when presented the opportunity, he turned it down. Obviously if every one is more talk than walk, alternatives will not exist. And being a member of an alternative does not make you against this forum, or “unfaithful,” or whatever you’d call it. Simply put, if you don’t want to take the time and effort, that’s fine, that’s your business. But, don’t say one thing and do another. There is no reason to act as if it is an act of treason for being apart of two forums.
