Custom User Text

Custom User Text:
This is the title that appears beneath your name on your posts.

i think it should be user customizable.

seeing "newbie , evolving member , and evolved member" gets old after a while, i think it would give the site more personality and user interest

Total agreement. And it wouldn't make anything too garish, I'm guessing.

Hell, why would I want to be evolved? I don't even have an Evo! Can I be a Rallied member?

Yeah, I'm just worried about people abusing it. Let me see what I can think up for the near future.

Considering that people frequently abuse or push the borders with avatars and signatures I'm personally opposed to making that user definable.

I would tend to agree. This idea has been toss arounds more times than I can count, even more than sig images or off topic posts counting again.

How could they abuse it exactly? If they tried to put "moderator," it wouldn't be bold like yours. If they put a curse, they'd catch a warning and have to change it. What would constitute abuse?

Exactly. It would be one more thing in the long list of stuff that we would have to watch for the 20k members. AS it is right now, even moderators dont have the ablity to change the custom user text, as the feilds we set up for us by Mark (including the BombSquad designations)

But with 20k members you have 19k watching the others. Someone's going to find it offensive and report the post. Thus a moderator would see th custom title, PM for a change, the person would change it.

Seems as though this would work just as report a post would.

It'd essentially be adding another thing for us to have to monitor. People don't report every bad post. People don't report every bad sig. Some go unchecked for months, some I'm sure are never brought to our attention. I don't think we should have user titles viewable at all, except in the cases of staff members, and our new "gurus".

It's certainly not something I'd miss.
