Clean up sticky threads in Evo forums.

Lets clean up all the useless posts in the stikey threads.

Take the exhaust thread for example... put all the exhaust picts in the first post/page and then lock it. Have people create threads for questions. It's a total PITA to sort through all the crap looking for raw data. Really, how important are all 468 of those posts? I think it'd be great if it were just like the how-to forums. Perfect way to keep the important data where it needs to be and the questions / comments elsewhere. Have admins add to the original post as new products or good info is posted.

Furthermore, do we really need all the stickies? It's half a page of good info, but is there a way we can make sub topics of it? It's tedious scrolling a good half page EVERY time you click the link. Perhaps you could have a FAQ post with links to the available stickies? Things like DP and Exhaust can be in the same post in the FAQ thread. Things like that, yah know... just to clean it up.

Whatcha think?

Good idea. I'll go in and pare down the Exhaust thread.

Which stickied threads do you think have run their course and should be deleted? Please start a list.

Here's what I would do.

Unsticky the (in the turbo drivetrain)

tuning for road racing
bov testing
dyno
turbo info
error codes

But create 1 sticky with links to these articles. Better yet... progress this into a FAQ and as mods see important data come (or go) adjust accordingly.

Next create 1 exhaust thread sticky. This would contain links to the manifold thread, the downpipe thread, and the cat back thread. These threads need to stay locked and only have pictures and descriptions. Users can then create threads asking about info. (Maybe if there is alot of interest in certain setups, like buschur TB or whatever, add that to the FAQ) THis setup can be just like the how-to threads. Doing this will allow people to see the options... but not have to sort through the jibberish.

I would then do the same for the Cams. (cam specs can be a locked 1 post)

Error codes would be a great start to the FAQ... same with the turbo info. Other things to add to the FAQ are turbo kit vendors (without bias )

The idea is NOT to lose info, but make it easier to find. So we don't want to delete threads... just clean up what we got.

So... maybe I could do a diagram... just as an example

- = sticky

-FAQ
--error codes
--BOV info
--tuning info

-Exhaust
--manifold
---all discussions go here
--DP
---all discussions go here
--cat back
---all discussions go here
--Sound clips
---all discussions go here
-Cams
--Cam Specs
--Cam Tuning
---all discussions go here

(all discussions go here would be the last post in the locked thread)
(link "all discussions go here" to one big topic approprate thread)

and so on and so forth....

Oh and another thing i would without question add to the FAQ would be lubes.

We need to get a write up of the requirements, volumes, options, and concerns.

Would you be open to writing any of those FAQ's? I know we submissions for these sorts of things.

I'll pass this info by the other Mods before I go moving things around today.

thx.

Yea, submissions would be a big part of the FAQ. I can write what I know but I'd recommend making a note in the FAQ that submissions would be welcomed.

I think this is a great suggestion, bolsen. It may take a little time, but expect us to do it at least in some capacity if not exactly how you suggested. I noticed that too when browsing Lancer forums last week, but I lacked the time to clean it myself. Thanks for bringing this up to our attention.
