SAN ANTONIO (timing belt tool) HELP

I am currently installing cams into my evo and Mitsu doesnt have a tension tool that i need to release the tension on the timing belt. if any of you guys out there have it i would love to buy it off of you or borrow it or rent or whatever i really need to get this done today so that i can drive home for thanksgiving willing to go anywhere around the area or any ideas as to where to get one would also be appreciated

You can easily make one.. That's what I did and I've used it three times now with no issues. As long as you get a good strength threaded rod you won't have anything to worry about. I've heard of people breaking them, but from the three I did I can't see how. You only have to turn it till it bottoms out, then maybe one rotation more (two at most) to realease tension. Make sure to use some anti-seeze and you'll be golden. You need 8x1.25mm rod bolt cut to about a foot long. Tree bolts on the other end so that you can turn it. well i went to the store and picked that up but when i tried to turn the tension loose it doesnt seem to be doing anything at all i dont see it doing anything anyone have any ideas?

Just find a vise anywhere. when you close the pin in, use another pin to lock it. You're then good to go.

yes but its not moving, did i miss something here, i put the bolt that i am using as a tension tool in and once it hit bottom i started threading it in.....many turns later the belt has not moved a milimeter....what am i doing wrong that its not giving me any slack????

??? i have never put cams on my evo, but my boy william at precision R, usually does my work for me. you might want to check with him, they are on broadway and boardwalk.
