Links working! MZM Dyno Day Dyno Sheets from 7/30

Here are the sheets. I tried to list the mods as best I could remember them. Unfortunately, I don't know any of the mods on the VWs or Audis, but know they were all modded. Not all the cars were dynoed all the dyno day, but they all were dynoed in the last week or so.

What do the #'s mean anyway? I've heard that this dyno reads low but is that because it reads true? If not then what is the real whp on these cars? I'd have thought that the gt35 kit would have been putting out more. Isn't this kit capable of 500-550+whp? Is that cause Bob dosn't have the internals? Because looking under the hood the car looks impressive as hell...

Also, Hameed gained that much whp from just adding a cat back?? (or everything under the 1st comments section?) If just the cat back, Dammm....
(especially considering how low that dyno is reading)

Lastly, why were the WRX's putting down so much? I don't know that much about them (how much they spent to get where they are hp wise) but they were putting up impressive #'s on the dyno considering that the EVO's there weren't too shabby themselves.

The numbers are what they are. I'm not sure there is any such thing as true numbers unless you follow the SAE standards for measuring crank horse power. Stock 03 EvOs put down about 185 whp, 05 EVOs about 195 and STis about 210-225 whp.

Bob's 370 whp is double the stock whp and puts his car at about an 11.4 - 11.5 when compared to what other cars have run with that whp on the MZM dyno. Also note that this is at less than 28 psi. Bob probably has another 40 whp left in it with more boost and timing on C16. I wouldn't be suprised to see Bob go low 11s this winter when he gets a clutch if he can hook up.

Hameed's original plot was a stock EVO MR with the HKS catback, about 205 whp IIRC. His higher dyno numbers were after the Power FC, custom intake and a tune.

The STi with 360 whp (Adam's) runs the ASP SR55, basic upgrades and was on race gas. The other WRX (Bryan's) that put down 440 whp was a Spec C motor with an APS DR65, basic upgrades and race gas. It is a a beast.

Hopefully I answered all your questions.

All Mustang Dyno read very true to the power. Typically the numbers are often lower and most are disappointed. I had a customer who tuned their Civic on our dyno and lived on Oklahoma. The drove back and BLASTED a Z-o6. The guy called me from his cell phone to tell me.

Essentially the "brake" on the drums creat force or drag in real world enviroment. If you are serious about tuning and want true power sheets then use a Mustang. If you want a stat sheet and trying to sell your car then use a non enertia dyno. The power is skew'd but somewhat accurate. The curves tend to spool up faster as opposed to dropping off like power should. Props to MZM, they have always taken care of their dyno number and have laid down some big power.

Yes, you answered my questions perfectly. I would rather be disappointed with the truth than live with a lie (or inflated #'s)... I just wanted to be sure of how I was reading the #'s, what people had done, as well as Hameed's base/test bolt ons.

I tried to do a little research on the WRX's... I take it that the APS turbos are huge to say the least (then again isn't the GT35?) but what is the scec c motor? What would the EVO equiv be? I thought thay looked the same @276hp... I guess I'm wondering why even w/ race gas, boost and tuning Bob would be down 30whp. Is it the turbo specs? I didn't see a compressor map for the GT35 but the DR65 does look like a beast. I know they have IC's for our car that are supposed to be very good (and easy on the pocketbook) but how about their turbo kits? Why haven't I heard more on them, are they good? I guess to spool that 65 like the WRX we would need to have a built & stroked engine huh?

The APS DR65 is about the same size as the 35R. The Spec C motor is from the JDM STi. It is a special edition STi with a little more power, maybe similar to the TME EVO 6.

I would guess that the Spec C motor flows a little better than the EVO, but that is only a guess. I also think that as the boost increased, you would see the two get closer.

APS isn't currently selling a turbo kit for the EVO, but they have some other parts that are impressive BOV, 3.5" exhaust, IC.... Their big market is Subarus and as you can see, their parts can make some great power. I actually think the DR65 would perform very similarly on an EVO. I would expect it to spool faster than the 35R and have similar top end. It would be interesting to see the results.
