There is no doubt this is a tragic event. If it were my family there, you bet your *** I'd steal food and water for them. I wouldn't be stealing designer clothes, or TVs. I'd also be hiking my *** out of that area. Instead of relying on the government to save me. If it's so tragic in one area, get off your *** and move. Thank you, my point exactly. My earlier "rant" was not refering to people looting food, we all would do that to survive. Theft, looting of electronics & jewelry etc, rape, murder and shooting at rescue crews and burning ambulances is not survival tactics nor is it an instinct. It is predators preying upon the weak and helpless. Funny how Kam has attacked me for my race before!

We had some bad apple come to Lafayette, LA. Most of them ended up in shackles quick. Lafayette is a college town and there were "unconfirmed" reports of 3 rapes and a dozen carjackings, and two restaurants got robbed on the first day. One of the girls that works for me talk to a lady at the mall that is in the shelter (Cajun Dome)and she said that the police have weeded out the bad ones and it is not like it was over there.

I think they shipped them west... San Antonio maybe. Sorry, we got first pick.

Go ahead and flame me. Everyone here opened their door to people from New Orleans (me included) and a few bad ones that were not happy that they missed out on the looting tried it over here. Well, the cops here are still in control. The Mayor told them we might have to keep some of them but they will be in shackles during their stay in Lafayette.

Kam, I think anyone and everyone would agree that looting for necessary survival supplies is acceptable. Looting for nike's, jewlery, plazma screens, and extra long tees is not. They showed people breaking into high end clothing stores that hadn't been damaged by the storm at all. People are breaking into houses that are still boarded up that survived the storm. The "looting" that everyone is mad about is the unecessary looting of guns and dumb **** that none of those people in that situation need right now. "people like you" Give me a break. Go to New Orleans and tell me it isn't out of control.

How about calling them disaster victims instead of refuges, which typically denotes religious or political opression or times of war. I guess the point is if you barely survived a natural disaster, haven't eaten or drank for days or showered, and been cooped up in horrendous conditions....maybe we could give them a shread of dignity and call them something besides refugees or animals.

If you have, did you just happen to notice all the people looting, robbing, raping, murdering, starting fires, flipping over ambulances, and shooting at rescue helicopters? Read slowly now so you can grasp it...........ready??? WE ARE REFERING TO THE CRIMINALS DOING ALL OF THE ABOVE IN NEW ORLEANS(and any others that are doing the same elsewhere ie: Astrodome etc.).
