Refugees in San Antonio
Refugees in San Antonio
I've been hearing how they are going to bring 25000 people from Louisianna and keep them in the Kelly USA building, and I was just wondering if anyone knew where to volunteer.
I would really like to help out in any way possible.
I would really like to help out in any way possible.
I would contact your local red cross. I'm sure they have information as to how you can help. If that doesn't work, call your local police department. I'm sure they have information as well.
They are bringing refugees to the astodome in Houston as well. I just hope the looting and trash stays in LA, and those who need / want help are brought here.
Everything I keep seeing on tv and hearing about is so depressing. Some of those people in New Orleans need to be shot. It's BAD. People like that have no place in our society, and add nothing to our country. The more I see and the more I hear, the more angry I become. I hope the troops move in tomorrow and fire upon anyone acting hostile. They deserve nothing less for what they are doing, and what they have done to those trying to help them. The worst part is that the innocent and children are suffering do to the actions of the ignorant bastards around them.

I know man, it is unbelievable isn't it! This is a complete embarrasment for our nation and a HUGE wakeup call. Was talking to a couple of Law Enforcement people last night, they told me that most of if not all of the people that are being bused into Texas are "no good". Just a few examples of what these "animals" are capable of;
Mississippi: A man shot his own sister in the back and killed her.........for a bag of ice.
Houston, Dallas, and coming to a city near you soon: They are finding weapons on these "bus people" and it's more than you would expect, more than your seeing on the news. They have found guns on the people in the dome so now the police want to search people in the dome but they are having fits about it and do not want to be searched. Their screaming racism, do not want to follow any of the rules, etc. Crime amongst the "dome people" and in the dome is increasing at an astouding rate, rape, robbery, and all ready a couple of killings.
New Orleans: All gun stores in New Orleans have been completely wiped out by looters. There are rogue shooters all over the city just taking pot shots at anyone they feel like. Makes no difference whether your a Man, Woman or Child, they'll shoot you. They are firing on rescue helicopters, flipping over ambulances, setting fires etc.
New Orleans: Rape and murder is occuring at an incredible rate.
New Orleans: Many Police Officers are handing in their badges.
New Orleans: Gangs from surrounding states actually went to New Orleans to take advantage of the situation.
Houston: A charity organazation(damn, can't remember how to spell that!) showed up at the Astrodome with a truck load of clothes, when they tried to hand out the clothes to them, the blacks were getting pissed off and throwing the clothes on the ground saying "we don't want no used ****"!! Some of them were actually yelling that "if it ain't got no price tag hanging off of it, we don't want it"!
Houston: A man from another charity brought food and water in his own vehicle down to the dome, while he was handing out the items they mugged him and stole his car!
New Orleans area: A woman after saving her children and even her dog had walked for miles and was finally able to get to an evacuation bus. She was at the front of the line waiting to get on the bus. She handed her baby to, I think, the bus driver and was then trampled by the waiting crowd. They trampled over her, filled the bus and then left with her 2yr old baby! Baby is still missing.................. (My wife said she actually saw a clip about this on the news)
This is just unbelievable, what a disgrace to our country. We have decided that we are not going to give a damn dime to any of the large charity organazations, We don't care to donate money or goods if it's going to go to any of these POS people. Sad but true.......
Edited: to add nothing but a comma........

although i would tend to agree that the anarchy that has happened is largely in part due to people with no self control, i also realize that our government is totally clueless as far as what to do. you would think FEMA and others (homeland security, coast guard, police and fire) would have been well versed in large scale operations after the whole 9/11 fiasco. however, it has taken them 4 days and more to get any troops at all into the city to help out. ****, we can invade iraq and other countries with hundred thousand plus troops, tanks, APC's, helecoptors, and everything to support it in a matter of weeks, and that is THOUSANDS of miles away. yet when we need help in our own country, it takes a week before any force begins to be apparent.
whats really tragic is the lack of communication between everyone. i feel just reading all the news reports i have a better idea of whats going on then the head of FEMA.
as for why all these people are acting like this, well new orleans is one of the poorest cities in america. all the people left in the city are the poorest of the poor who had no means to leave during the evacuation. now when you have tens of thousands of really poor people, then everything they had is destroyed, then let them sit on roof tops for a few days in the sweltering heat, or shove them all in an arena with no running water, and no food, sleeping among dead people, i would be a little bit emotionally unstable too. there is no law and order in the city because no one knows what the hell is going on. the mayor keeps telling the press, "you hoodlums all need to stop or else!!!" well there is no electricity in the city, so these people are not getting the message. to them all that is going on is helecoptors over head are piling people in the stadium, where things are no better.
i would think these people need help more then ever, and to say your not going to help just shows how self centered americans really can be. i heard something about a christian organization not helping because they beleived it was gods will that city was leveled, and that those people deserve it. ironic that jesus lived among the prostitutes, poor people and the sick and needy isn't it? he did that because they were the ones who needed help most, so don't turn a blind eye to the thousands just because one or two percent of these people thought it would be better to steal guns and shoes.

well first off, the reason it took so long to move troups in is politics. The president had to first fly to DC and congress had to get off their fat asses to be able to send the troops. Even the day after the disaster i saw the general who would be incharge of it on the new saying, something like, when they give me the order then i can move in but until then i just havet to sit here. But beyond that they also had to develope rules of engagement for this specific situation and those have to be approved by people in DC. Where as you example of iraq, how long do you think they were planning to move in there, When they finaly moved in they had been prepared for weeks. Do you think there were just thousands of troops sitting outside the city all prepared. No, so deployment was another problem. now that iv had my rant, im sure others will follow.
But the thing which pissed me off the most of all. Was i saw a video of 2 female cops, looking at shoes and looting shoes in a store. They were cops! Its not like they were even taking things they need like food or water. I think they can protect and serve without high heels. But what i also thought was funny about that was the fact that they were on camera, they didnt even care. Their faces were all over the news so im sure theyll lose their job.... over a pair of free shoes.
Lastly, i agree that these people shooting and rescue boats and chopper should be shot but they wont shoot them. Do you know how outraged so many people would get if we started shooting them. Im sure many others would agree thats what they deserved(me included) but it wont happen. Thats just not the way things are done here unfortunaly.
I could go on and on about things which **** me off about this thing. But ill let others rant haha.

AustinEVO I apologize, I do mean to vent my anger on you, you are just stating your opinion on the situation. I am just so angry that so much attention is being paid to these looters and etc., while the real attention needs to be on helping. It's easy to judge people when your miles and miles away from the tragedy, I honestly really could not tell how I would react if I just lost my home and loved ones, my mental state might not be the best either. I just am finding it so irritating that they cannot get find a way to begin a way to get some control over the situation there, and I sincerely hope a few nutt jobs with guns shooting at them is not keeping the national guard and police from taking control of a situation, I would hate to see these guys in Iraq. Right now there is chaos in New Orleans, and we need firm leadership to take control of this situation, where is this firm leadership?
I think it's terrible if we let the way some of the peole there acting keep us from helping all of these other people that truly need our help. I don't think the actions of some of these people reflect the group as a whole. But of course when that is all you see on the news, it's easy to convice yourself that everyone is acting like that, eventhough it's not the case.
I live in San Antonio, and I think if we were in the same situation, a temporary situation of completel lawlessness, I believe that the worst of the worst would come out to to take advantage of the situation just as happened there. But that wouldn't mean all the people in San Antonio are good for nothing trash, just the ones that are are being able to act in a way that is unnaceptable, because there is no one there to stop them.

I saw the man talking to the reporter while holding his child, whose wife slipped from his grasp never to be seen again. It was/is heart wrenching. I wish nothing but the best for the good people of New Orleans but make no mistake, I don't feel one single gram of sorrow for the animals that all of us are watching on TV right now. I'm glad that the National Guard has been sent in and I hope that they pop a cap in every single low life they see. Moving on, I am also embarrased at how the whole situation has been handled by our Government. As I sit here in my office I am curently looking at aprox. 20 Black Hawks sitting on the ground. I'm sure there are many, many more sitting around at various other NG sites in surrounding states. Why didn't we send these guys in at first light?? If the government had done this the situation would probably be entirely different in New Orleans right now. Am I frustrated and disgusted at what I'm seeing on television now? Yes I am. Am I embarrased? Your damn right I am.
I think that it is sad that all we can do is complain about not getting any help for the people. I live and work in the Austin area as a paramedic and now for a fact that as soon as the storm cleared that EMS had numerous people and a mobile command unit en route to the disaster area. I think we should praise the people that are going to help. Speaking from experience I would not go the disaster area during the storm. I think we learned that on 9/11. The first thing that you are trained is to look out for #1 me. I think the US is doing a great job.
