Question Austin Gillman Warranty Experiences??

hey all,
I'm about to go in for some (hopefully) warranty work - thick white smoke from my muffler, possible blown head gasket/bad sensor/blah blah....

Just wondering if anyone's dealt with them before as far as warranty work, so I can have a heads up if they're gonna try to screw me around. Thanks!

^^ yeah luckily all I have is a drop in filter (which i'll switch out before I go in anyway, just in case). so do they tend to be dicks at Gillman then? I've never even stepped foot into that dealership...

That's where I bought my car so I know the salesmen are crooks. I only brought it there once for recall work and the 5,000 mile checkup. I wasn't modded at the time but the tech was telling me how they voided some guy's warranty because he had a cat delete. You should be fine if you're not modded.

How did it blow? Did you miss a gear or something? Just a thought, but you may want to unplug the battery to reset the ECU and erase any logs. Don't give them ANY reason to void it.

BTW, did I see you on Howard Ln. last week? There aren't too many girls driving black Evos. LpBevo said he has long hair but I don't think it was him.

Good luck with Gillman, they are on par with a dirty shop rag when it comes to ethics. The one in Selma is the best I've come across after having experiences with pretty much every dealer in between Austin and San Antonio. I have taken several evo owners there for tranny work.

Depending on the theme night at Boy's Cellar Lp can be found in any color of whig so don't let him fool you

Careful posting here... there are many people who have very unfriendly things to say about your pasted service dept denying claims, and the work ethic of your techs. Not to mention spamming up the place...

Well my experience with all Gillman was terrible. Josh I know you like the one is SA. But when I took my car there to have the trany work done it took them 2 weeks and they where going to install my $1200 clutch for $100 all was good at this point. Then a week later they called to ask me if I had pick up my clutch because it was missing. I was at work so I told them I was going to be down there the next day. I arrived and the cops had not been called and they acted like it was no big deal that a $1200 clutch was just stolen. Well make a long story short they told me they are not responsible for the clutch and would not replace or pay for it. I talked to the service manager and same story. I just want to let all of you know that I dislike all Gillman service reps and would not tell any one to go to Gillman.

I've had to replace two of my heater core coolant lines on my evo. Both failed but at two separate times. Luckily I'm a mechanic and carry a pretty comprehensive emergency kit. The lines come in a pack of two so luckily I had the other in my trunk when it burst while driving in Beaumont for my Uncle's funeral a month ago. I heard from the mouth of one of the Gillman of San Marcos's techs the other night that there is a recall on these coolant lines for all evo's. I had no notice of it and thankfully I'm a VERY aware driver when it comes to smells and gauges.

Also I have a problem area on the carbon fiber plane of my factory spoiler on my first build '03 Evolution. I keep the car waxed with a UV protectant product per the owner's manual and have no clue how this happened.

Edit: And oh yeah GWDEVO8 I can't beleive I forgot to mention the theft of your Exedy twin plate while the vehicle was IN THE SERVICE BAY at Gillman of Selma. Guys you wouldn't believe the way he was treated.

ok...got time to vent..went to gillman in austin around the beginning of the year. I had a lower control arm bolt that had been stripped (due to neglegence from the stealership in Lubbock). I was getting my oil changed and I simply wanted them to take a quick look and give me an estimate on the stripped bolt. After leaving and coming back for my car I waited for over an hour for the very rude guy (i think he was the service manager) to pull up my papers. He gave me a bill for the oil change + $180 for the estimate which was bull ****. I was quoted $1600 to drill it out and rethread it and they wanted to replace my exhaust system (there is a scrape in the metal protector in the bend in the downpipe) including my new catback (in perfect condition). They said it was dented and restricting flow. I ended up getting pissed and just paying it because I'm a big *****..haha. the estimate wasn't too far off it was $1200 at MZM, but it was really just their attitude. I felt like they were trying to **** me. I am now out of warranty and have a good shop and will not go back to the dealership (unless they might replace the flaking wings after warranty is out)!
