Hey guys I was wondering I may be coming out to Katy Texas to another Office Depot and I was wondering about the emissions testing. How hard is it to pass the test. I have never had my evo tested because I live in florida. I have a test pipe, cams, full exhaust and I am assuming I would need to put a cat in to pass the test. How do all the evo guys down in texas pass those tests? Thanks in advance.

Here in San Antonio they do not do smog checks. We have an inspection, but they just make you use your blinkers and horn and thats about it. Not sure about the rest of Texas, but think they just check for codes (OBII). Maybe someone from there can chime in.

 

there is no emissions test in houston i think? but i might be wrong. there is none where i live either

 

in dallas county they just plug into your obd2 port and check sensors.

 

None in Corpus Christi, same as j8.

 

nice to hear that.about emission, planning to move this summer in mcallen texas. is this part of san antonio texas?

 

It's down on the border with Mexico, a few hours south of SA.

 

They sniffer test in Austin and Houston, but on newer cars you can get them to just plug into the diagnostic port. No codes = All good

 

So as long as you are not throwing any codes you will pass? I can keep my test pipe and everything in if I do move out there? Thanks again for the help everyone!

 

yeah codes you'll fail, and they RIGOROUSLY check for sulfides, etc. . .in the exhuast here in Houston, they changed their emissions standards thanks to the new mayor this past year. . .so I'd say without a cat, you're running a risk at least here in Houston. . .so non codes+cat=you'll be okay!

 

That really sucks that I would need to put the cat in.

 

What do most of you guys do when its time for you to get your car inspected?
