The weather and bugs are an everyday thing to me. I'm actually expecting the weather to improve over College Station - the humidity is like someone throwing a soggy wool blanket over you everytime you step outside.

The areas around the base seemed really scuzzy, but the areas around where my wife's school is at (right on the edge of Killeen by Harker Heights) seem really nice.

To Evo_whiplash: For right now we just want to rent something nice.

Thanks for all the input!

Austin ain't too far from Kileen and there is a lot more to do besides get drunk and try to get "hooked" up. The greenbelt, the lakes, a lot of good bands and more than a few roads worth driving in the hill country.

It like what was already posted...its what you do that makes a place fun or dull!

Man if you couldn't find anything to do in austin other than go downtown, that's really sad.

If you're coming to Killeen, then all I can say is welcome. I was born and raised in College Station (Hearne to be exact) and Killeen is where I'm hanging my hat. I have to agree with EVOG8R about the area. Just like any town/city, there are good parts and bad parts that you have to be aware of. I assume that you're the proud owner of something "EVO-like" because you're on the forum. Well, there's a good group of guys here in Killeen and we love our cars. The scene is growing and the competition of enthusiasts is pretty good. There are plenty of places around here to have fun either with your family or with your second woman/wife (car). As far as where you should live, Killeen, Harker Heights, Copperas Cove and the surrounding areas are all growing at a rapid pace. I'm pretty partial to www.bentinahomes.com. I have a 10-year old, a 9-year-old, and a 2-year-old and the place is pretty secluded with the high school and elementary school only 2-3 miles away. Either way, I'm sure that with all of the posts, you have enough information to make the most informed decision possible.

So how many members regularly meet up in Killeen/Ft. Hood?

I drive an 02" Eclipse GS, that will hopefully soon have a custom TH05HR turbo set-up. I also have a 67 Camaro that will likely make some appearances.

My wife and I are pretty good at making the most of our situations, we have lots of friends in Austin, and there seems to be a great car scene in the area: I think we will love it.

So what is the 1/4 mile track in Academy/Little River like?
Are there any road courses in the area?
