Selling a item on Craigslist, have a question...
How do I know a potential buyer is a scam or not? I've heard all those stories about buyers from Africa willing to send double the money through money orders and what not. If I give my paypal info to someone to send me money, are there any potential risks that I should be aware of? It's not my first time selling things or using paypal, but for some reason with this particular item (cell phone) ive had so many people wanting me ot ship to Africa and offering more money and what not, I just want to make sure there isn't anything bad that could come of this...
Thanks

why risk it? They usually want to use a fake money order and will usually pay more than what you ask for. You think it's a real m/o but in fact it's fake which the bank will make you reimburse them AND you send in the product... Craig's list is strictly for local sales only.

They aren't sending any check or anything, they are asking for my paypal add so they can send the funds via paypal and they've made no mention of africa or anything. They also haven't offered the extra funds normal scammers do, i'm pretty torn..
People from "africa" have hacked paypal accounts and used them to buy stuff. Just sell local.
Hey man I really want a WW EVO 9 bad, I would be willing to send you a check for $60,000 for your car and we could use my third party escrow service for the verification. I would need you to ship to the car to me in Nigiria, you can trust me I am a prince and am getting millions. We have a deal???

On Craigslist the only way to be safe is to sell local to someone you can meet face to face. Everything else is a risk. I generally use Craigslist for items I want to sell locally, and Ebay for ones I want to ship.
yeah it sucks, scammers are out there, always check everything even your CC statments, change your paypal password every month or two, same as ebay.
few weeks back i saw 600 bux that someone charged my CC. Thing is I DO not use it at ALL. good thing they put $ back to my account.
