Hello,
Bought an EVO IX GSR 3 months ago. I’ve been lurking on the forums for a bit. I wanted to post earlier but just haven’t had time. A little bit about me. I have been living in Texas for three years an I have always admired the Evo. During the 8 years that I spent in Japan, I got to experience and see for myself the amazing power and performance of this great machine before most people.
I had a Japanese friend who in 1998 had a pretty much brand new Evo IV. The looks and styling always impressed me. However, I never had a chance to actually drive one until about 2000 when I drove an Evo V. I was very impressed with the response as well as the handling, even though I was not expecting any less. Although it was not my first choice for a car in Japan while I was there, I knew I would end up getting one if I ever came back to the US (due to rumors that they would be selling them there in the future).
In 2004, another friend of mine bought an Evo VII and the new styling and looks didn’t impress me much compared to the previous models which I was already used to. I did respect the fact that a Japanese car manufacturer finally produced a great car, the Evo.
I had been eagerly waiting to buy one. This past January that wait finally came to an end when I purchased my Evo IX GSR. The car was in great condition and had low mileage. I have driven many cars in my day and this has to be one of the most enjoyable and fun cars to drive. Three months later, I still can’t stop driving it like I just got it. I owned a Supra and two 180SXs and none of them come close to how my car performs.
I have joined up with North Texas Evos and have gone cruising with some members from the group. I look forward to contributing to the forums as well as learning everything I can about the car. My outlook on the way things are done in “JDM” land was unique and I am very fortunate to have experienced it. I enjoy sharing my experiences with anyone who wants to listen. Please understand and bear with me if I ask any “stupid” questions, as I am new to the scene here in America. When I left in 1995, there wasn’t much to experience. I was actually surprised when I came back…as well as highly disappointed in the fact that people love to put fart cans on their NA cars and try to think they know what JDM is. Don’t get me started on the “Fast and the Furious”… .

Welcome to the forums and NTEC
It was fun meeting you at the Fuddrukers meet and
seeing someone as excited as you are about EVOs
It reminded Matthew and me why NTEC is so much fun
