Possibly Moving to baton rouge..
Hey Raliegh,
Just stumbling upon this thread. I live in Lafayette which is about 50 minutes away from B.R. towards the west. I bought my car in B.R. about 2 1/2 months ago. Since I bought the car I have been slowly setting the car up for some road racing at the local track(NPR). It is a 1.8 mile road course that is only about a year old and has lots of grip. I have done some road racing there with WERA on my motorcycle this last season. There are a few local SCCA chapters that have events there from time to time. I also know a few poeple that rent the track out for half a day or so and have gone to a few of these event myself. I have been entertainiing the idea of organizing a track day with fellow EVO owners are any enthusiasts that would like to get together and have some fun on the track. Unfortunatly, as you have read earlier there aren't too many EVO's around. Which is good and bad I guess. Looking forward to meeting you and all of the other local EVO owners. I would love to get a little club going if possible.
Oh Yeah, Sorry but I bought a silver one. I was going to get a black one locally but found out that one of the salesman wrecked it. After looking at the car really good I could see some paintwork was done to the rear passenger door and the rear passenger rim was scratched. I asked the sales manager about the damage and he said that he knew nothing about it. HHHHMMMMMM. Hence I ended up getting my car at Levis Mitsu for a little under MSRP. Buyer beware that black car is still at Hampton Mitsu. They also have a red one that they have had for about 2 months. They may be ready to get off of them now.

Hey Tony... I did *ok* I think. I had traded in a 2k eclipse and was up-side-down about 2200 bucks. With that, all said and done, I got OTD with 33,338. So basically if you take the trade out of the equation... I got the car for right about MSRP or a few hundred less. Or if you subtract what they had to add for my pay-off on my trade... I got the evo for about 29100 before TTL.
But let me tell you... it was worth it, this car rocks
.
I think you can do even better though if your willing to travel. I got it this past Monday, and counting my car there were 16 evos in a 70 mile radius of Baton Rouge at about 8 different dealerships.
Hey Rovman... I graduated from USL (ULL now or whatever
) and I'm always in Lafayette on the weekends, we'll have to chill one weekend. That red one at Hampton has 57+ miles on it BTW... the black you mentioned (didn't know it had been wrecked.. wow) has like close to or over 100 as its been their test drive car. I had a friend local in Lafayette test drive it and he wasn't too friendly to it in the test drive... I'd recommend staying away from that one too.
If you can handle having miles on your evo.. and I mean 100+ Durham in Hammond will prolly work you a GOOD deal. Those dummies drove each of their 4 evos to every showing of 2f2f when it came out for advertising. They have the same 4 evos one of which for almost 6+ months. They can't move them at all... and I know you could prolly get out of there with one for invoice or even less. I would not doubt if they went into their hold back to get rid of even one.

Hey Resonance,
I went to USL also. So how many miles are on your baby so far. Since I got my car I went out of the country for about 3 weeks and just got back 4 days ago. I have 1500 miles on her so far and have enjoyed every mile. I have to say I am extremely pleased with my buy. I have owned 911's, an S2k , Mini Cooper S, and many other performance cars and none have added up to such a complete package.I had ordered a new M3 at the end of last year and when it came in I coudln't make myself write that huge check for the down payment and passed on the purchase. That was one of the best car buying decisions I have ever made. About 10 years ago I was competing(autocrossing) with a VW Corrado that I had fully prepped and after 2 1/2 years of setting up the car she was phenominal on a road coarse. My new EVO is twice the car that my other strictly road race car was right out of the box. This is the first car that I have bought and immediatly stopped thinking of what kind of car I am going to buy next.
Anyway enough babbling, If you are anyone else is ever in town contact me I would love to meet up and talk EVO.

So far, I'm at 260 and I got it 4 days so I'm doing about 65 miles a day so far
.
I must agree the car is just awesome. Your experiance with cars is much richer than mine though... compared to my 2 80s models Chevy S-10s and my 2000 Eclipse, the Evo is much superior
. Its like not even a comparison between the Evo and my past cars.
I'm going to assume you got the silver one with no roof from Levis right? Its good to hear from a local guy that the Evo is better than all those other cars... crazy
.
And come on BBEvo.. you don't need an Evo to go out there this weekend

Thats correct! I did buy the one w/out the sunroof. I wanted the car to be light as possible. So what are plans for modding? So far I have a more aggresive alignment, a Vishu Stage 0 in the mail, and a rear sway bar that I need to order. This is what I will start with.
Any plans for anyone else's Babys??????

For right now... I'm doing "safety" mods. My Apexi turbo timer should be here in the next day or so. Then I plan on getting Defi BF gauges and a Passport 8500 radar detector.
My logic is I want to enjoy the car stock... get used to what sort of readings I should see stock from the new gauges in all situations and then move on to actual power/handling mods. Appreciate what the car is at first, know its limits... then when I get bored and used to it... then actually add the performance parts. Plus this keeps me a little safer with having to fight for any warranty work that may pop up while the car is still new.
Once I'm past that point, right now I am a deffinate Vishnu supporter and will prolly atleast go with Shiv's stage 1. Shiv's methodologys in testing, observing and examination of factors are very similar to my own in most things that I do... so my gut says to stick with his stuff.
I'll be intrested in seeing your Stage 0 Rovman. I saw a full buschur setup (exhaust, small batt, intercooler hard piping, afc, intake and single disk clutch) this past weekend at NPR on a red evo that ran. I beleive he said his screen name here is Evo_8.
Anyway thats my plans, keep it slow and observe the way the car behaves.... anyone else?
