To any Lancer in Texas..
Hey again all. I live over in Katy, and am up to hanging out some nights here and there. I have seen a few lancers around but dont know if any belong to list members.
Ill be a Cinemark tonight seeing Star Wars.

I live on the far east side, actually closer to Baytown. Don't matter though cuz I am in need of a good place for parts. I was trying to get an intake and had decided on the RMR, but the Mitsu dealer I got my car from (Gillman Mitsu Northwest) would not order the part because they said it takes to long for them to receive them. Sounds more like they are to lazy to make a customer happy. Anyhoo, all suggestions for parts purchasing will be most welcome.
I'm here in Dallas/Fort Worth area... More Lancers are starting to spark up over here, but, none of them have any mods... I'm the only Lancer I've seen in my area with even so much as an exhaust. Course, at the moment, that's all I got, but the Injen RD intake should be here on the 23rd.
Pretty much just me, and in August one of my boys is getting one, and he has a little more financial freedome, even though he's not half the driver. Anyone else here in Dallas, I would love to have roll out, or something. I'm in the Midcities area. E-mail me for more info.

Actually, yes, but... personally, I think that the turbo is, well... nevermind. I'm not getting into a flame war on my opinion of NA versus Turbo. He wants to do the turbo, but first, in agreement with me, he believes that other engine modifications must be done first to make sure that the turbo is working with an engine optimal for turbo, and one that will last more than a year, and not wear to horribly on the engine. In any case, he doesn't thing the turbo will happen until about 2006. I said a little more, which means dropping three hundred every month is no big thing. Me, I'm lucky to scrape together 20 a month towards my car. But, what little that's being done will satisfy me for the time being. The stock lancer was enough to blow away a number of lightly modified civics and such, even a 300ZX. But, not bragging, just saying that I got into the Lancer and knew I wasn't going to be able to put what I wanted into it, and am learning to be satisfied.
Maybe some others would get into a flamewar about turbo vs. n/a, but not me ... I've got a n/a Impreza 2.5rs and I'm happy with it. I've played around with the idea of getting a turbo or supercharger but when it comes down to it I'd much rather spend my dough on other things (home theater system, computer, techno-toys) ... when I feel the need for more horsepower I'll get a new car ...
I was only half serious about the turbo comment ... seriously his first upgrade should be NOS

Don't get me started on that... Nothing against NOS for pros, or seriously modded cars, but... not for your everyday driver, in my opinion. Plus, just to prove how much this other guy doesn't know about tuning [not like I know so much, it's more like common sense], that while NOS is the absolute last thing I would do, this is like number four or five on his list. Plus, he's under the impression, God knows where from, that you can't use NOS with a turbo, which, I'm not sure if true or not. But, it doesn't matter.
But, if you know my opinion on the necessity of a turbo on this car... multiply that by about 25 and add a little head shake and a scoff. My opinion, like you said, is keep it NA. Sorry, but this SOHC engine was designed to run optimal after some inexpensive mods on the breathing side. Supposedly, it's great strength lies in it's ability to be a cheap but rather powerful NA engine after some work. In order to get the turbo to work well, you have to change the complete personality of the engine, and basically do a DOHC conversion... but, I said I didn't want to start on it. Sometimes the fingers run away with the keyboard.
In any case, in my area, seems more emphasis on show than go will be enough to destroy most enemies on the street. At the track... I'm not so sure because that's not really my goal. In any case, I've written much more than intended. Sorry for the rant....

Yeah, know it was just a joke... wish that soapbox icon was still a choice... I just used it as an excuse to voice my oh so humble [if sometimes unpopular among certain crowds] opinion.
