Rally X?

Just caught a part of this video: http://videos.streetfire.net/video/S...y-X_177595.htm

And said... that looks like fun.

Anyone know a farmer that wouldn't mind his field getting torn up a bit?

I know that Chad would be all over it if his car wasn't trashed

Yeah I might be up for a rallycross. That would be a good time to use the cheap secondary winter wheels with snow tires -- of which I will be purchasing as we get closer to winter (and as my wallet recovers from the set of star specs I just ordered the other day which should be here early next week!)

Last year the only one that was even near to us was held in Houston so they do happen around here on occasion - just not often.

I would suggest we speak with the SCCA guys and see if we can talk them into holding a rallycross since they already have all the gear and insurance stuff covered. The SCCA does RallyX, just not in our region for some odd reason. Maybe just because there has not been enough interest.

But maybe if enough people say they want to do it....

why are you getting snow tires for here?

Just put the ACD into snow and roll out... or VPN in for the 1-2 days it gets nasty enough to consider it?

There was a RallyX in Austin, Spokes got sick of it. We're working on a new site in Marble Falls. Hopefully we'll have our Rally X ready for a RallyX!

Not for just "here" ... Snow tires make decent rallycross tires -- so I've been told. Big gnarly open tread pattern that works well in dirt and mud. Better than street tires.

Oh yeah that's right.. It was spokes that did the last rallycross event. Let us know if there are any coming up some time. I kind want to but at the same time.. not sure I want to start slinging dirt and rocks up the side of the car. I guess I would need to get some mud flaps.

Mudflaps are a start. Vinyl application transfer tape (massively wide masking tape) is good for covering body panels, as is 3M rock guard.

Its a rallyx, not a stage rally. Lost bumpers and lips are extremely unlikely. RallyX regulations clearly regulate the proximity to trees and the likelihood of jumps.

Although it may be held the same place we do our testing: http://www.bouldercreekfarms.org/offroad.html just on a much less intense section. I think there was.. 14 jumps on one stage?

On a stock vehicle. The problem is the way many people modify their cars makes them bad candidates for rallyx. We looked at holding one in NTX a couple years ago and while there was some interest among NTEC members there was a distinct lack of appropriate vehicles.

For the record I've rallyx'ed my car a number of times without issue. But then again I think I'm probably the only NTEC member with a completely stock car.

Maybe I'm giving people too much credit then. I thought it was a given that if you're slammed on a set of 18" rpf01's this probably wouldn't be the way to go haha.

The DFW chapter of the SCCA did RX for two years, then told the 20 or so entrants that they would have to help put on the events, and they all disappeared. We would be happy to do it again, but some of you will have to help a little. If enough of you commit to trying it, I'll talk to the RX chairman and tell him what's going on in this forum.

One of the big problems with the Spokes events, too. People didn't want to pay AND have to go pick up rocks before the event AND get their car beat on. They prefer the clean safe pavement of a parking lot. Justifiably I suppose.
