I Just Bought My First Evo
I Just Bought My First Evo
Everyone,
I'm happy to say as of Sept. 1st 2008, I am an official EVO owner. I bought it from Lewisville Mitsubishi because they were having an end of the month sale on all cars in an effort to hit the managers quota for the month.
I purchased an EVO MR. Phantom Black with all options included except the aero package. (I will end up installing the ChargeSpeed carbon fiber side skirts, carbon front lip, and carbon rear canards).
I previously owned a Honda S2000 which was a great car, had no complaints. But the wife was getting on to me about not having a "family" car. The EVO was the best bang for the buck in all the research I did. I sold her on the car, and the rest is history.
I'm still getting use to the SST tranmission, but from what I can tell, its AWESOME, smooth as butter. All my previous cars have been standards so getting use to the SST Tranmission might take a while. The car now has 109 miles on it, so its still not "broken in".
I live in Arlington basically at 360 and 20, but for the rest of year I will be working in Houston M-F and come home for the weekends. I will be driving the company car back in forth between Dallas and Houston so the EVO will stay in the garage. Hopefully a couple weekends out of the month I will be able to meet up with the Dallas EVO crowd.
I have seen the other Dallas posts relating to pictures being taken, hanging out, meeting up, etc.., but I have yet to see any (unless I'm just completely missed it) about going on group drives. Do ya'll normally go on group drives? The S2000 club in Houston normally went on a drive once a month. How often do ya'll go? I'm not talking about going to the race track, but driving on back country roads with twistys n stuff.
If ya'll do not go on group drives that often or would like to go on more, I would like to be the organizer or atleast help, (if you don't already have one).
Well, thought I would just say Hello to everyone and hopefully I can meet everyone in the DFW area.
EVO FTW!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well it sounds like we need to organize something pretty dang quickly to help you put some miles on that thing (I put 1200 on my car over the Labor Day weekend). Congrats on the purchase!
Stealth edit: Time to change your "Drives"

Congrats!
I know Kelly (Devo330) has been trying to get a group cruise setup for quite a while! I honestly don't think there are a lot of roads near here where a caravan of modified & hot cars wouldn't draw too much attention from the local boys in blue...

The Dallas S2000 club goes on drives I think just west of Denton, I will try to find the link and post.
Monday heading to work, (20 west, then 287 north towards downtown Ft. Worth), I followed a blue EVO GSR. The first one I've seen ever on the road. Thats one of the reasons why I got the EVO, cause you hardly ever see them. Everyone drives a BMW, or a G35/37, 350Z, but you never see an EVO. I like to be different.

There are a lot of good twisty roads in this area. Also, we can't forget the roads around the Joe Pool Lake area. I hardly ever see cops over there. I would also be cool to meet in Downtown Dallas one morning and drive to Downtown Ft. Worth and eat lunch then drive back. Just throwing out ideas.
Here is one of the more popular S2000 drives in this area:

Exhaust will be on on Friday. Probably will do the coilovers this weekend or next week.
I wonder if the wife's G35S would keep up with the Evos?

Edit: Setup a thread: https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...d.php?t=367292 Let's try and do this

The wife was really pressing me on a BMW, Mercedez, Audi (love the Audis), even an Infiniti, but everyone has those. I have plenty of time to buy those cars when I'm older, but right now, my body is still able to take acceleration and handling from a car like the EVO, plus it has 4 doors which we needed. Later on if life I'll get one of the luxury cars, but for now, I'm still able to have a little fun so why not.
