Congrats to al3xx!

When he gets back home I'll let him fill in the details. I think he just *might* become a track junkie

Yes - congratulations are surely in order! As I said earlier at the event -- he's a natural. I will also allow the victor to tell the story in his own words...

Quite possibly one of the best weekends I've ever had, I'll say that. Lots of fun racing, meeting people, getting some rides in insane cars, and just seeing some crazy cars/drivers.

It was my first time autocrossing, and I'll say that it was a great experience. Learned a lot from all the instructors (thanks Mark), and improved big time. I remember when I first started driving on Saturday I knocked over basically all the cones--somehow I didn't knock over a single cone on Sunday, although I came pretty close several times I think.

I was amazingly surprised after my first run to have broken 40 seconds on that course--I was thinking that I would be running 41's, but the weather got a little better by the time my heat was up. I'm very satisfied with my performance overall, although I got a little aggressive towards the later runs and pushed my car a little too hard.

All in all, it was a great experience. The becoming a track junkie is not a question, the tires are the problem. Hopefully winning more will help offset some of the expenses with the contingency program. Anybody figure out how to win the class for the year, with that 3-win maximum for the Novice class?

You run in the open class

There is no Novice year end award. There is a Novice year end award with Equipe Rapide (I won it last year).

And your tires are just fine. Star Specs are still "the" tire to have.

Perhaps he was referring to having to buy tires every 6 months as being the problem... we hear ya.. but don't forget brake pads and rotors too. Change fluids more often.. etc.
