Thats weird that your IX wing needs to be re-cleared. Didn't wax it much?

I had my brothers wing on his VIII sent out to get re-cleared and they got as far as removing almost all of the clear and stopped. They thought they would damage the carbon fiber if they went any further. So when I get it back I'm gonna finish the prep work and have someone clear it for me. Just a suggestion...

I called a shop and they claimed to not know what I meant when I said "re clear" so at this point im just wondering if anyone has had local experience with certain body shops that could help me...

I had a cf hood and had a body shop wet sand and polish the hood back to LIKE NEW condition! It cost me $100 which included washing the car. I would imagine the cost to do your wing to be no more or less then what I paid.

I'd ask the body shop if they can take that route with your wing.. I have a pic I can show the day I picked it up...honestly, looked better than new. Let me know..

Just my 2 cents...

I'd love to see the pic, if you don't mind.

I called a local shop, whom i had gotten great reviews about, but when i told them about my issue they didn't really know what I was talking about. I'll try calling them back tomorrow and see what their take is on wet sanding and polishing the CF portion of it.

Ask and you shall receive.... Unfortunately I do not have any BEFORE pics...but to give you some perspective...your wing looked better now then my cf hood did before taking it in to the body shop for the wet sand and polish..

I no longer have the cf hood on my evo...put the stocker back on.

Hope this helps!

So apparently the fading isn't on the surface and it's below, whatever that means. 2 shops turned it down...is it not repairable?

What they mean is the actual carbon fiber weave is damaged, once that happens there is no way to fix it.

From the pics though, it honestly only looks like the clear is bad.
Would you happen to have an email? I might be able to help you out.
