AWD tuning/EvoDynamics review
I went there earlier today and got my Kelford 272's and GSC valve springs installed by KevinD and I must say that the level of professionalism with this shop was above and beyond my expectations. I brought my pregnant fiance along with me and she was also impressed by the cleanliness of the shop ,waiting area and rest room. They also used torque wrenches on everything which is a big plus for me and also did the proper break in procedure of my camshafts. Would definately trust these guys with my car anytime.
seeing that you liked the work maybe you should let him tune you as well-- being you say you need one in your tag line--you wont be disappointed with that either-- speaking from experience and you can get it done beofre July 10
+1 on that awd tuning does a great job tuning . i would recommend the to anyone who lives close by. did a great job on a friends wrx..for a great price unlike shop her in the atx who rape you on the price.
+1

tell ya what, if mellon tunes it, i'll dyno it for free just to see what it puts down. but then you have to let me try to do better
Kevin,
I have some plans for my RA, including a COBB AP. If you tune my RA can you load the map on my COBB, so that I can switch between maps? I don't have a lot of experience with AP's.
Current plans for power upgrades include:
FMIC w/pipes
Evo X turbo upgrade
Upgraded BOV

you dont need the cobb access port. we can do what you want without it
the map switching might not be available right away for the RA, but if you have a laptop we can get you squared away. where you planning on running E85 and a pump gas tune?

The COBB AP for the Ralliart comes with some basic maps:
Stock Mitsubishi (for dealer crap)
Deadline (anti-theft)
Valet (grandma mode to keep the valet's in check
)
Stage 91 and Stage 93 (which are basically power upgrade for stock setups)
Website also mentions:
I'm assuming that means basic mods for bolt-ons like FMIC, etc.
No need to tune for E85, my little mods will probably bring me to the limits of the TC-SST. So until I can get the upgrades for the transmission and until someone figures out how to "tune" the TC-SST I will be stuck around 300 ft-lbs of torque.
I don't suppose the AP can read the current tune from the ECU and map it for later use. That would be too easy.
It sucks that the mapping software is like $1500.00!!!
Either way, once I have all the stuff for my set up I will be paying you a visit.

COBB Tuning provides several preloaded maps for common power modifications. Each base map is dyno developed and rigorously tested in multiple COBB Tuning facilities across the country These tests cover the spectrum of altitude, temperature, humidity, octane and fuel quality variables to ensure proper calibration and performance wherever the car is driven.

we have tuned one (if not the) highest hp ralliarts in the country. you wont have a problem with where you are at right now (we have even tuned ones with nearly identical mods to yours, with and without E85).
as for all those other roms accessport offers, when its available, the tephra mods we can do to your stock computer will include valet, you already have antitheft stock, you don't need the stock rom (but we save it regardless, just in case you want to go back to stock and sell the car). and we custom tune the car for 93. so essentially all those other roms are just fluff.
meaning you will remove the previous tune and flash your own base map and tune it correct? because everyone that tunes knows its WAY too easy to simply add a degree of timing to someone's exisiting map and provide a slight gain on the dyno (which may/may not take it to the edge for the street)... but would get u the quick result for the goal.

and if you want to come and be the third party arbitrator, we can do the pulls, i'll let you clear the rom from the mellon tune, and i'll tune it from scratch

heres the advantage of using a local tuner: 75% or more of the evos that come to me as new customers, have issues with the car that just tuning it wont fix (and if you don't check for it, it can be robbing power no matter how small it is). flying someone out there to tune you car means he wont have any tools, and any way to fix anything if and when your car has an issue.
when people bring me a car, i look it over, make sure it is going to tune right, fix anything and everything that needs to be fixed, then tune it. i have turned people away who wanted a tune because the car needed something that tuning without will yield subpar results, either we fix it, or they fix it, then they are much happier in the end. i don't demand a deposit for the tune, and your not out the plane ticket cost to fly me over to your place when it cant be tuned because you have a lifted head, or your running more boost then your BOV can hold. and when i start tuning a car, if i find it has something i cant fix on the spot, i don't usually charge to tune it again after its fixed
for me, the computer work of tuning a car isn't the expensive part. its the time and knowledge needed to know when something is wrong, and fix it. you wont get that with a fly in tuner.
sure i wouldnt want to start from a mellon tune anyway
