When you have the few of runs, the only way to make the day enjoyable is to go along on some rides. I was tired and antsy in the morning, but I'll tell you driving the S woke me right up, especially that slide off the track! I think the adrenaline fueled me for a while after that. And I wound up having a lot of fun yesterday, staying until the end even though I could've left after heat 3 and was 16th place in X class.
Race tires are definitely interesting. I had heard stories about them before and they definitely lived up to that. You're right about the all or nothing. They're much less progressive than street tires, and when they're breaking loose they just kind of have that low, dull groaning sound. Not like street tires which squeal when pushed hard, and have that "hopping" noise when they're pushing.
That was also my first time driving a RWD car, other than a go kart. So put me in a light RWD car, with race tires, a bigger front sway, and bigger front tires... just asking for disaster. But that little thing was real fun to drive!
Good to hear you came out, Chris. Yep, that was my Evo. Only one there. QAT-R stopped by but his Evo is in the shop right now. Otherwise Treefallen is right, no Evos are coming out to represent!
I think there were 4 STi's, a few WRX, and even an old GC8 2.5RS with a WRX engine (and the fairly rare red paint).
But there were so many people there, I was getting nervous. Kids, dogs, spectators, cars, bikes, more spectators. It just all seemed a but uncontrolled. The grid was crowded, the parking area was crowded, etc. We could really use a bigger venue.

Yeah, speaking of the crowd. Ramsey and John were kind of worried with all the younger people driving in the pits (especially during the 5th heat, with less participant cars there). We had some hardware stacked up over there...
Besides its not the participants that bring about all the noise and comition in the area, lots of younger ones showing off their rides in the streets...bad that! So Ramsey sort of mentionned we needed someone assigned to security and crowd control.

Ooooh, so that was you you spun off, hehe. I was working Corner 4 for that run. That 240 the spun was just plain dangerous, if any of you saw it. He tried powering out of an already-lost situation, and could have hit some people.
3rd slowest WRX out there, w00t

I missed the 240's spin, though it must've been the one my friends told me about that the guy just stayed in it even after it was lost.
At least you weren't the slowest WRX out there.
And it's not veyr fair to compare yourself to John of Ramsey since they're always fast.
