Do you have experience on that track? I appreciate you stepping up. I am really curious to see how our Evos stack up with a good driver..... ?
I will get with Quikag and see when we can do this. Should be a blast. I need to get a firm date at Motorsport Ranch to set all this up....
Brice and I are running his Evo at MSR this weekend. Come on out. We're only running a smidge over 500 AWHP and don't let the 18" full yoko slicks on volks worry you.. As for weight, Hmmm, my brothers Evo just might weight a little less than the Z06.. Sure would be nice if the Cg were lower though. Hopefully Saturday we'll have the suspesnion all sorted out. We'll be there tomorrow evening and all day Saturday and Sunday.
BTW - anyone in the DFW area have a passanger side brake air guide we could borrow for the weekend? Ours is "broked". Doh.
We're finishing prep work for this weekends race right now. oil, coolant and brake fluid change in progress. And of course we find the broken air guide.
Come on someone wants to help us out. I'll put you down as one of my guests and you can come watch.. Maybe I'll run the slocus and if the Z06 can keep up with it, We'll give em a chance against the Evo.
Fun Fun Weekend. Come on out!

Fawk, if I wasn't stranded in Ft. Leonardwood, MO for the next couple of months I'd be there in a heart beat. Do stuff like this in mid July when I'm home for a couple of weeks please.
Where the heavily modded Z06s are, they better have a full race setup. we were just a smidge behind a well modded 911 Turbo on full slicks. We were the two fastest rides out their by far this weekend. Plus The 911 was driven solo, and we had 450lbs of big ole 2 Texans weight rolling in ours. Had to have someone holding the laptop while datalogging.. Z06s, Cobras, Ultralites, Birkens, and others were just hoping they could run with us. Initially a few folks thought there was no way the Evo could hang with them. But we are patient and just hung back putting pressure on them till they ran out of tire and either spun off ( sucks getting all the debris kicked up on ya ), waved us by, etc. Once they all got the message it was a wave by while we were just a tiny blue speck in their mirror, becuase we would be running past them on the inside, outside or wherever. Did have One good off at 100mph though.. going into little bend, at about 140 needing to get down to about 70, hit a slick spot ( I think it was some antifreeze ) and lost most all braking and cornering. Managed to get it to turn enough to miss the tire wall, but it was quite a fun trip!
We'll be back out in July fore sure and probably a few more Fridays before that weekend. Car was nice and neutral, with good power on Oversteer. I was show boating in front of the pits with some four wheel power on drifts when traffic was really bad. We did a nice 540 into the infield. At this point the rear tires were corded and we were just finishing them completely off.
I hope some other Evos will be coming out to the July Event. Anyone? I feel bad for those of you not coming out and enjoying this great cars. You are missing out on so much. If you're real green and want to feel fast around the track, I'll keep it in 4th in the slocus and give you a chance to pass me.

I am probably just an average driver. I have 2 schools and 2 events experience.
My EVO only has turbo-back exhaust, Boost Controller, and SAFC. I was running Falken Azena Sport tires (over-inflated, will do better next time).
I drove in a 1.88 mile road course a couple of weeks ago in Nashville and did very well. The EVO smoked Rousch Mustangs, Cobras, BMW M3's, and older Vettes. I could keep up with a modded 95 Porsche 911 (non-turbo). I did not get to race the Z06 on the course since he was in the competition class and I was in intermediate. The 911 beat me on the straights only, probably due to aerodynamics.
I was VERY pleased with how my EVO performed! There was not much out there that my EVO could not hang with.

Aero is a big downfall of the Evo. It's a brick. We've been working to improve that.

That's funny. You pulled my sig off Corvetteforum. I've been clear with my mods, the guy I'm running on the 25th of June has a fairly well setup Evo and he's a member at MSR which is where we're running. Anyone is welcome to join in and watch in the mid am on the 25th at MSR in Cresson. www.motorsportranch.com

Paul returns to the pits. And we are greeted with the information that our little monster logs the fastest lap of the day, nearly 6 seconds faster than the 600+hp 911 Twin Turbo. Our overall standing is starting to look better. The car ran so fast that it ripped the Tire Rack decal off the windshield. Well, not really. But our little red flame thrower was certainly the talk of the town.
