I'll prove it to you. You and I have the same mods EXCEPT for the boost controller, actually you even have an aftermarket intake, I don't. I'll run him from a 20 and even a 40 roll.

So apparently I was on crack when I posted lol. My memory must suck. I was in fact in 3rd gear when we raced! So no more yelling at the Birthday girl (BTW thanks yadi for b-day wishes)!!!

Anyways, even if I get the MBC he still has about 30 hp extra with his Boost and Meth on. The Meth is what really does it!!! From like 270 hp to 297 hp with it turned on I guess my car really does weigh a lot more than his.. (I just haaaaaaad to get a sunroof... )

 

come by my neck of the woods and go to vp racing put about 5 gal of race gas and then race.

 

My car won't blow up? lol I thought it needed a separate tune for race gas? Man, I need more edjumicashun on these cars ... slowly but surely.

 

The race gas will allow you to tune more aggresively but it will have no negative effect on your car right now except make it run a little smoother.

 

It's not just the weight. you have AWD and that causes a bit more drivetrain loss than he has. BTW is that 297 at the wheels? If so what is your HP at the wheels?

 

Nope u dont need a tune and don't worry the car won't blow up it will just haul a$$ =).. I say if u plan on modding more and u forget the warranty then save up for cams,meth and tune. Then you'll have srt-4 for bk =)... read more on cams for the 9 i read somewhere a few negative things specially since not many companies has come out w them yet. As long as u are tuned for ur mods and get a boost controller and gauge which i'm sure u have things will be fine. Also rec a wideband just 2 make sure u don't run 2 lean or 2 rich on open throttle =). Girl i got the evo over a year ago and i'm still learning =)

 

The MBC makes a huge difference. I had my intake, TBE and flash installed initially and the car felt decent but the boost taper was killing me up top. Once i put on the MBC and turned it up to 22, it was a night and day difference. The car pulls like a freight train with very little taper.

Race gas on its own wont do u much good on stock boost, Race gas and 26psi is where the fun starts.

And its true, with just race gas you can turn up the boost to 26 lbs with the same tune. No problem.

Yea I agree with everyone that you need an MBC asap! I am probably going to be buying cams, meth and a bigger ic and pipes soon...Hopefully I will get near that 400hp mark =). But yea trust me get an MBC, I made 332whp and 330tq with a 24psi spike. And I have the same mods as you + an MBC...

 

Thats not a good spot or position to run an srt-4 even if its stock next time try running from 3rd to the top of 4rth The 4rth gear on the evo is what kills the srt-4. If he is stock you should have no problem if not good luck and god speed
