Today, when I get home from work I put them up and I do this so I don't have to put up the shutters when a mild wind starts blowing and makes it tougher to handle those sheet metal monsters.

As for plywood... We don't need no stinking plywood!!

Thursday Plywood Story from Hell:

I showed up at Home Depot in Ft. Pierce at 5:45 this morning, line around the building, no more 5/8th or 1/2", only wussy 1/4".

-Drove to Home Depot in St. Lucie West, same deal
-Then to Lowes in Jensen Beach, line around the store, no wood in, no clue when the next truck would come.
-Home Depot in Jensen, drove by....
-Home Depot in Stuart, same deal.
-Lowes in Stuart, wait in line for about an hour, get about 20 people from the front, "sorry folks, no more."

I'm about to say **** it and buy a monster load of 2x6's and play Lincoln Logs.

Get in the truck and drive north, stopping everywhere along the way. By now its 10:30, realize I'm in Cocoa. Shlt, I drove 100 miles north. Jump on 95 South, hitting up every major exit. Each stop I'm met with people standing in line on the verge of tears.

Get off in Vero Beach to see a workmate. Stop at Lowes for shlts and giggles. About 20 people standing outside, no wood, black women screaming at their men to find something quick. Step inside and am about to buy those corogated plastic greenhouse panels. While I'm in the back of the store I hear the manager on his Nextel, "well where the **** is the truck....oh....ok....we'll be ready."

Haul *** outside, wait for an hour and fifty minutes in the sun, and finally a convoy of 3 semi's loaded with pallets of plywood pull in. Drop $366 on 20 pieces of 5/8ths, load them in my Guatomalan 1989 Toyota minitruck, and take off back to PSL dragging my mudflaps.

I thought we were all gonna ride it out together in our cars at the meeting!!

 

Just got done with all of the preparations. I have the house and the building to take care of. Not to mention busy selling concrete screws for plywood.

GVR, I guess that you haven't seen what one of these can do. Ask our buddies in Miami or myself about Andrew. These are serious storms. I'm glad to see that you got plywood, though.
