Exedy twin carbon clutch/flywheel -used SOLD

SOLD I am not a real fan of selling my used clutches but let me run this by ya'll. This Exedy twin carbon (not the cheaper cerametallic) and light flywheel came on my recently installed AMS 2.3 stroker, done last October, around 4k miles ago. From the getgo, the clutch would slip at full boost and around 6k rpms when cold and than grab obviously as she heated up. A call to Exedy CHQ and repeated talks with a Mr. ***ioka can be summarized as: The max. flywheel torque for this clutch is around 470 ft/lbs, my car has 468 ft/lbs(503 HP) per TopSpeed dyno, you can buy an upgraded pressure plate which should cure the problem.

My cure was to get a new ACT Xtreme pressure plate/performance disc since I always had good luck with them in the past.

I removed the Exedy last weekend. The slipper metal plates show overheating(mottled blueing, no warpage per feeler gauge on glass sheet check) while the carbon discs are unscathed, no oil contamination noted. Please note that when i would put my Profec S boost controller on 20 psi, slippage was no problem...slipping would occur at 26 psi and above. The car was never dragged or abused.

If anyone would like this clutch/flywheel assembly which should perform perfectly well at 400 HP and below, or want to get the higher pressure plate seperately, make me an offer. I was using it for these 4 months and, at all but my max power, it behaved fine but it ticked me off that a $1,700 clutch needed a "better" pressure plate for my power output when the original supplier said it would handle 500+ ft/lbs, something Mr. ***ioka contradicted. Also wanted to open her up to make sure there was no oil contamination or that the carbon discs hadn't been shot. I am happier with the noise free single disc and it suits my style of driving fine.

No offer too low...pressure plate and carbon discs are like quite nice..only metal surfaced areas show slippage as noted above. Will entertain offers or trades for that matter ( car already pretty well max'd out though) for a week or 2 before she gets turned into a wall clock.

Cheers,

Craig

Exedy twin carbon

So far the ACT Xtreme after a breaking in period has been handling things just fine with no smell of hot clutch on full boost pulls. As mentioned, this set-up is supposed to handle 500+ ft/lbs of torque.

Damian- I sent you a PM.
