Topspeed Appointment Next Week
Topspeed Appointment Next Week
I finally made an appointment at Topspeed in Atlanta for next week to have cams installed (and head studs) and a retune for 93 octane. I moved from California in August of '05 so I was tuned for 91 octane. My car dynoed at 295whp in Cali.
I want a very reliable setup for trouble free track performance. I try to do a track day once a month. Is there anything I should think about before I go there? I'm not an expert at knowing all of the latest tuning details. I know the basics and I just want a very reliable tune for track events ranging from 35 degrees to very hot days. The car is also my daily driver but for a short commute to work. We take the wife's A3 on the weekends mostly.
Thanks in advance.

Reading about cam choices on the forum here makes my head spin.

Just make sure they don’t sit on your car for seven weeks.
Also, tell them not to tune your car ***** to the wall, or you might run into some Detonation especially if you are road racing.

Don't listen to Taylor, he's been sippin on Hatoraid. Doug obviously knows what he's doing considering how many evos they see on the dyno there. I have the HKS 264s in my car, btw. That's Tray you talk to on the phone - it can get a bit hectic there with only one guy on the phones, I'm sure he's not trying to rush you, just with three other people on hold it's hard.
Had the HKS 264's installed along with headstuds and a new dyno tune for 93 octane. Topspeed did a great job. I told Doug I wanted a conservative tune for track use and he got 330whp. Said 340 would have been easy if I wasn't so conservative. I'm very happy so far. The car pulls pretty strong. I'll be at the track this weekend so we'll see how it does. I'll probably need more braking now.
More power....more braking....More power....more braking....More power....more braking....More power....more braking....More power....more braking....
Thinking about a roll bar or roll cage next.
