Hi everybody. I am fine after my shunt. We'll see how long it takes to get the car back in shape.

I understand you would like to have a cookout this Sunday at Performance Chassis. Let me know how many and if weather cooperates consider it a done deal.

Cheers,

Jim

I have an ACT clutch but I am not a huge fan of their clutches though...i just couldn't afford an Exedy twin disc...Also you never know what your gonna get with a used clutch...could have been beat to sh*t for 5k miles and end up only lasting you another 5k miles...

Jim - We'll get a head count going for Sunday. I think that will make for a good meet and we should have a pretty good turnout. EVERYONE PLEASE POST IF YOU WILL BE ABLE TO COME ON SUNDAY SO WE CAN PLAN W/ JIM.

Gullie - Welcome... your name isn't Kenny is it? If so, I met you at Target the other day. Keep an eye on the thread for the meet time for Sunday.

Jim - Just saw the video and the pics... sorry to see that man. Did the air bags not blow when you hit the wall? Is the insurance going to cover any of that?

I'm sure normal insurance won't cover it, but you can buy optional track insurance before an event. I'm not sure exactly what that covers. It was like 150 bucks for 2 days for my car. Ill take my chances.....

The car handled the shunt amazingly well. Mitsubishi really builds a tough car, although I would NEVER recommend any of you copy my move. The damage is pretty much only body damage. I will need a new hood and front fenders. The SRS bags never deployed (whew). No glass cracked nor was shattered. The door gaps remain perfect and the doors open and shut like they were new. The same goes for the trunk.
I had installed fender braces prior to this track event and I believe that they kept the front unibody frame from colapsing. There is minor unibody bending just above the headlight. I'll need to replace the headlights as well as the ACD unit. The Greddy FMIC appears to be in fine shape.
The insurance company was amazingly great. I didn't try to BS them with a story about "a deer jumped out in front of the car". I called them about 30 minutes after the shunt and they were most concerned that I was physically OK. I made it clear that I was at VIR and at a driver education session. They made sure a rollback was there within an hour. The next day they called me and recorded my description of the incident. After the taping was over I asked if I was still being covered and what would happen with my rates. They told me that I was still a customer and that I had an accident forgiveness chit I could use.
The body shop called me yesterday. They noticed that I had some carbon fiber attached and wanted to make certain that everything would be restored. Wow! So I will meet with them and go over any non-factory pieces that need to be replaced.
It is hard to believe how well this is turning out.

As far as a cookout at Performance Chassis goes - if it would be better to do it after Easter, let me know. Otherwise we are on for Sunday.

Jim

Yeah, that is me.

I am down for an event. However, I don't see anything official regarding time and location. Where is that info?

I'm going out of town either this weekend or next. The weekend that I don't go I am there. I am looking forward to meeting other Evo Peeps.

Gullie
