93 Octane Gas in Georgia
Man, welcome to last week for us for sure, as is300 said. I am so glad its over.
IMO, do NOT run 87 with octane booster. It'd be like 87.5 octane.
My best advice is:
1) Drive another car during the gas shortage until you can get 93.
2) If you're catless, put at least three gallons of 110 leaded on top of an otherwise full tank of 87 and you'll be fine.
3) If you have to use 87, DO NOT BOOST. Use extremely light throttle and accelerate by revving, not by throttling, as this will require usage of the turbo.
I highly advise against #3 unless you have zero other alternative. Good luck.
I know it blows, but it will get better soon.

Its not a race car running a tune that has really advanced timing, and lean A/F. A stock evo will run fine on 87. Will it be as fast...no, will it run as smooth in the rev range...no. But it wont blow up, and wont damage the motor, so throwing in race gas is ok if you want to spend the money to be able to DRIVE you car..but not necassary. And if your tuned...all you have to do like you said is dont boost, then you have no problems. Running 87 is not something that is great for the evo..because it doesnt allow for max performance.
It's bad up here in Charlotte, there is absolutely ZERO premium gas in this city. When a station does get some it's sold out within an hour.
Today some gas stations have regular and there aren't any crazy 30 car lines like last week, however, those that need premium are out of luck for at least a few more days or even weeks.
I was lucky as I found premium in Clinton, SC out of all places when I autox'd at Michelin this past weekend. However, if we don't get premium by next week I won't be able to get to work.
