so you disagree that the car is configured as fwd, with a transfer case hung off the side? or are you disagreeing that fixing broken drivetrain parts is not fun at all? I mean it shares a base platform with an econobox fwd vehicle.

Read into it what you will, I've owned mine for three years and done all of the maintenance, repair work, etc.. so from a commenting about overall layout and ease of work I can assure you all that it is far and away easier to work on a 90's rwd volvo than it is to work on the fairly tightly packaged drivetrain in an evo.

furthermore, I was merely having fun with mega-z, my last comments towards him were intended more as tongue-in-cheek with a side of derogatory jab than some sort of existential commentary, and this was based on what appeared to be escalating trash talk.

the simple fact of the matter is this:
1) I own (and occasionally race) multiple vehicles.
2) I don't drink the mitsu cool-aid, sorry.
3) I didn't say anything about one car relative to the other in the post prior to mega-z's, so I'm not really sure why he felt the need to comment about something he has no knowledge of.

I have to agree that the FWD based layout does suck to work on. I'd much rather work on a longitudinal layout.

No. And saying all that just confirms that you're being overly defensive because he took a jab at Volvos. I am saying the Evo is not junk and that telling the guy to go commit suicide because he made a joke about your other car is out of line. I am well aware of what and how the Evo is built.

You say you don't "drink the Kool-Aid" which is another jab at the community, because obviously we must all be dumb mindless drones to like a car that has a "junk" drive train. But you obviously bought one too. I'm guessing maybe they lied to you, or you never opened the hood before you bought one, or it was given to you and you work on it for ****s and giggles? So perhaps you are drinking "the Kool-Aid" too.

So let me get this straight-

Because I stated that the Evo has:
A fwd bias in terms of drive train layout (which it does...)
Fixing broken drivetrain parts is *not* fun, especially in an Evo, see above for reasons why, and-
It shares a base platform with an econobox 4 door (the Lancer),

I'm being overly defensive? What part of that has anything to do with my volvo, and what part of that is incorrect or inflammatory? The wording? It's certainly no more inflammatory or derogatory than anything else being tossed around. I can really colour it up for you if you'd like

I don't recall saying that the drivetrain was junk, the context of what I said was more to the effect of "don't go beat on the car at the track without getting its issues sorted out", and not at all insinuative of "don't race the car its a piece of ****". If I thought that, I would have posted that.

And for clarification, I told him to kill himself so that he would no longer be wasting oxygen that could be put to better use elsewhere. that goes back to point #3 in a previous post-he doesn't know what the **** he's talking about within the context of the discussion. I certainly did not tell him to commit ritual suicide simply for joking on the volvo

You say you don't "drink the Kool-Aid" which is another jab at the community, because obviously we must all be dumb mindless drones to like a car that has a "junk" drive train. No. The kool-aide comment is absolutely a jab at the community, which you are perfectly exemplifying right now. Whatever conclusions regarding my unstated opinions about the Evo community at large you wish to draw will remain baseless and speculative at best until I decide to further expound on that topic; but I find it amusing, so you can continue to shoot in the dark.

So far you have the following things to draw from: I have classified mega-z and yourself in the same category of nearly worthless to me, you can safely assume that I think you both drink excessive amounts of the kool-aid, based on your respective comments, and you can probably assume that I have a less than favorable outlook towards the greater evo 'community' if you can really call it that. Fortunately that is a general stereo type and not applicable to many of the individuals that I've met over the years, but hey. There you go. let's see what you can do with that.

Black Kenny is always stirring **** up and making comments that don't hold alot of water. It used to be kind of funny when he'd mess with the Domesticans on ARS, but after so long you need to back it up or lay off, he's done neither.

I think the point that everyone here seems to have missed is the ":-P" face in linux's post about the junk *** drivetrain...

so lets all pull our panties out our cracks and give em a good rinse to get the sand out and just chill. Like it or not, we all DO have the same econobox based performance grocery getter (except for the one of us with the actual econobox), and there's not that many of us in the vicinity.

FWIW, I have a fresh understanding of how much of a PITA it is to pull this damn motor. Way ****tier than any other pull i've done.

Its like, you write all this stuff, but you don't read anything I say. I don't need a lesson from the professor about how an Evo is built or how hard it is to work on. I saw you tell a guy to go commit suicide because he said something about Volvos. You used the word *junk* to describe Evos.

You keep trying to cloud the issue by talking about real traits the Evo has, when I am not arguing, discussing or referencing that AT ALL.

Well that's great. I realize you are the type to get his panties in a wad because someone had the audacity to suggest that working on old Volvos is not a lot of fun and a rewarding experience that betters an Evo. And because you have lowered your standards to be part of this community by owning an Evo with a junk drivetrain we should be grateful and sing praises to you for raising our Kool Aid drinking community to higher levels with you being here. But the joke is on you because I don't care what you think of us, or the car - I was just trying to be nice and clue you in to why somebody like mega-z might be challenging your "opinion" because your comments were out of line.

How's that work for ya?

You obviously have not worked on both cars in question, and looking around at the tool-bag nature of the average evo owner on this site, it would not surprise me if you didn't work on your own car at all. Having worked on both of them, and many other vehicles, I can assure you that the evo is *not* an easy or fun vehicle to repair.

And it's "you", not 'U', brah

I don't know if you are directing this to me or not, but if you are - where are the smiley faces in the above post? Either way, if the above had been posted to me directly, it wouldn't matter how many of these were in it.
