hi guys, i met some of you at yesterday's event ( i have a red gsr x and followed nicole up from bradenton ). it was really nice to meet everyone and i had a great time! the drive from tampa to orlando was really a lot of fun, i hope there are some more opportunities to meet up again.

 

It was nice meeting you too Aimee. Yeah we were the 80 mph crew...lol. Had a great time.

I just got my first evo 8, so far I really love it. It's a virgin with 30,000 miles on it. Can anyone recommend a good mechanic in the Tampa area? I'd like to get all the fluids changed before she becomes my daily driver.

I am glad to hear that you got a great deal on your Evo and that you enjoy it, already!

Although there are NO shortages in mechanics for Evos in Tampa, I would like to suggest that you change the fluids yourself. It is super easy and it doesn't take long at all. Plus, you save lots of money in the process.

There are plenty of us that would take the time to show you how it is done, if you like.

I cant wait until you post pictures of your new ride! If you are into doing things as a community, then hit me up. There is a meet this Saturday. You just missed the annual meet in Orlando on the 20th of November!!! Dozens of Evos from all over Florida attended!

 

+1 to Alex's comment. Fluids are easy if you have the time otherwise, you have plenty of options. This car is not that complicated to work on. If you are going to have someone do it for you verify what they are putting in your car or supply them to your mechanic (I use Diaqueen and BG Syncromesh II for drivetrain).

BTW - I had my alignment done at Firestone on MacDill yesterday and they have a very good guy who does it and an excellent machine capable of before/after print outs. I had them do it to my specs. The mechanic even sat in the car to compensate for the weight of an occupent in the car. He gets an A+ for that.

 

Thanks for the input, I think I'll give doing my own work on my evo for later down th road once I know my car better.
Still looking for reccomendations for mechanics though. Any advice or recommendations are appreciated.

Hey, is there going to be an evo meet/bbq this weekend?

 

Sup man. TCM stands for Tampa Car Meets. As for Evo meet/bbq, not that I am aware of unless I got excluded from the invitation.

 

There is no BBQ that I am aware of, but I scarcely get invited to things I don't plan myself.

The next Evo BBQ is in February... But, one can be arranged sooner if everyone shows interest and someone volunteers their home.

If no home is volunteered, but there is still interest... then, I will suggest several alternate locations.

I'm always down for Evo meets!!! Bring them on!!!
