I hate to say it, but they probably won't do anything. I've been through it before. Once with my own car, and a 2nd time with a friends car. They never even send the prints to the lab. I've personally seen piles of finger print cards sitting in police cars, never sent to the lab. I'm talking about months of cases.

Seems every time they break the little window and go from there. May want to put some 3/16 lexan in there instead.

Yea, I was surprised that they came out and did it without giving me a hard time about it, usually any extra work they have to do they are jerks and lazy about it. I just hope that the prints are from whoever tried to steal it and that they have a record so that they get caught.

I dont think they require thumb prints in FL for a license, I hope they do though!!! That sucks that they didnt look into it, its kind of a no brainer if they have prints to get a license and could run your whole car.

If they give me a real hard time all I have to do is contact my uncle who is a sheriff and he will make things happen but it seems like it will be done in the next week or so...

I would be if I were you, I would make sure the car is secure and have some theft deterents and/or some kill function and park somewhere they cant flatbed it out...

I prefer not to mention where in Broward I live for the sole fact that people probably come on here to try to locate them to steal, hope you understand.

Thanks, I agree, it blows my mind how much crazy stuff happens right next to the police station by me....

Your definitely onto something, Im just glad it isnt gone but I have learned my lesson now. I didnt have an alarm, the thing that saved it had to be someone getting spooked, but even if they didnt the battery was dead in the car and it wouldnt have started and I doubt they would hang around spending time trying to diagnose it.

Im getting something added to the car for security in addition to storing it somewhere locked up. thanks for the recommendations on the alarms

Last couple of EVOs stolen in SFL only got the window broken/cut to fix park brake and turn wheel into tow truck.

There's more than 4 EVO thefts reported down here since October of last year (including my 08 X MR). Most have been on Friday nights. No one is safe unless they have a garage. This is organized crime not random.

Oh and get a GPS tracking device on it.

Wouldn't matter what county you lived in, they'd go where the cars are. Broward is generally better then Dade with regards to crime. But sofl is sofl. Here we had hundreds of Evo owners back when. But these aren't people whom drive by neighborhoods EVERY night looking for just that car - they're locating the owners/residents first either by DMV hookups or taking Lic plate numbers when they see them, likely scouting and surveying, then moving in for the kill. Like the civic the Evo is just popular and easy to steal, so there's a large market for it.

My uncle is BSO so if they dont get it done I will have them force their hand to get it done. I just got off the phone with the detective and he said it will take about another week or so.

They would have never gottn away with a tow truck in front of my house, the space is too tight and my window is about 10 ft from my car. Bottom line is that I am never keeping the car at my house moving forward so problem is solved.

For them it wasnt a DMV hook up or a matter or writing my plate down and locating me because the plate is registered to another address and my license is a different address as well so it was shear luck of them driving by and noticing it from the street or someone in the community letting someone involved know it was there.

My car was pretty dirty and the sheriff lifted lots of really fresh prints off of the car from whoever it was so with any luck the person has a record an will get caught.

Super pissed off about it and now I have to find a new place to keep my car because it's clearly not safe here anymore.

They broke and pulled out the driver side rear vent window and unlocked the rear an driver side door but that was it thankfully there was no other damage and I think they got scared off by someone because there is a decent amount of traffic where I live.

What's even more mind blowing is that I live across the street from a police station, literally, and this still happened.

Anyways I'll keep up on this post and let everyone know if they find them, they said that it will take about 7-10 days to run the prints etc.

Keep an eye on your babies boys and girls they are disappearing like hot cakes down here.
Sorry to hear.
