Shipping Questions

ok im kind of clueless when it comes to getting items shipped... im hearing a lot about customs, duty, cost of inspection, etc.. when do those come into play?

I know that if you order say a lip kit from overseas, you can either get it by airmail or by oceanfreight. Do certain costs only apply for certain types of shipping or does it go by weight/volume over a certain size there will be additional costs (aside from the fact that it costs more to ship a bigger item) will there be an extra cost incurred on inspection or what not? or does that only apply for say ocean freight and not airmail?

^well it really depends on what you're shipping and how its being shipped
but usually you got dinged for customs/duty as soon as it reaches our boarder.
The cost is usually determined by the invoice price. Say the item cost you 1000 and the tax on it would be 13%, then you'd pay 130 in taxes. So what you would normally want to do is ask the guy to lower the invoice price, so you pay less taxes.

How much it costs to ship something is usually determined by weight/volume since most things are transported in containers. Hence the more room you take up, the more it'll cost.
If you cannot fill up a container, it is usually cheaper to get it by airmail, but you still get hit with customs.
There is no extra cost for inspection since that's their job lol

Canada is really strict on international shipping. They want thier tax money . Its the only country that ive been to where you have to declare everything you bought while on vacation.

The price that is printed on the invoice is how they work out custom charges, get it lowered to save some money.
