its all because of the weight, i really dont understand why mitsu made the lancers to be so heavy. i mean 3000+lbs for a compact car? the hell?!

lol exactly...even putting 18's on a econo car doesn't make sense. I dunno if its just me or if any of you guys notice the same thing, but when I swap my winters on (16 inch) there is a hell of a big difference. My mechanic can't believe how heavy the GTS wheels are. What I also don't understand is why Mitsubishi would under power this gen compared to the last?

I think many of you are missing the point of the lancer..

The lancer is not intended to be a luxury sedan like bmw's Lexus, Audi's merce's so comparing it to them is silly to me.

The lancer is not a sports car either in my books.. names like 350,370, infinity G series, Evo, genisis, s2k, come to mind.. i could go on..

To me the lancer is merely a cool looking family sedan, ment to compete with the base wrx, 4 door civic, ect...

I'm sure many of us for what we paid could of bought a supra, skyline, evo ect.. but they would all be used so I'd say thats an in fair comparison. then you deal with blown motors or worn out parts ect, fun stuff of buying a used car..

Complaining about cheap plastic, cheap paint is all fine but common, mitsu paint has been **** since literally day one.. back in the early 90's.. and the plastic interior, what did you expect.. go buy a lexus or something..

the dealer bs that goes on well, you can get that no matter what company you deal with again unless your going to lexus ect..
Now hopfully with the alliances that we have at the dixi, scarborugh, maple dealers service issues will be taken care of.

I'd also say complaining about the power being in antiquate is crazy since I'm sure many of you test drove your cars... sure our car isn't the fastest on the road but really its not that bad.. and if it was just retched, why did you buy it in the first place?

For me, I bought my car because I needed a reliable 4 door. It looked cool, decent performance, got a good deal and got a 10 year warranty.. gets me from point a to point b..Thats all.. nothing else.

If I was in the same situation down the road, I'd probably spend the extra 6 -8 grand and step into the lexus IS series but I'd be older and my insurance wouldn't rape me as much.

How many of you would honestly get another Lancer to replace it?

Sometimes I think I'd miss my car... but at the same time when I think about the paint issues, and the lack of horses for the price (BMW 125i for $33,000 has 230!)

I really don't think I'd ever get another Lancer. To me, what started off as a cool looking unique car I never saw before anywhere is now a sedan I see a lot of older people driving (some with veteran plates lol).

If I had the chance to get something else I would.
Are we talking about an Evo or just a plain Lancer? I'd get another Evo, of course. But not after I hunted who ever took my car down!

So far I havent had any problems with my Mitsubishi, its better than a Civic or a Mazda 3 in my opinion, and since Im only 19 those are basically the only other cars I could afford at the time. I would get another Lancer in a heartbeat if something happened to mine, I love my Lancer

Mitsubishi Lancer is supposed to compete with base Subaru Impreza, Honda Civic, Toyota Corolla, Mazda 3, Chevrolet Cobalt and in that regard the car really isn't that bad, in terms of acceleration its actually top of the class. I have driven all of the mentioned cars and either you get a bit better performance or better MPGs, there is no clear leader here, it all depends on your needs. All of the mentioned cars use hard plastic interiors, in some cases 4 speed automatic transmissions (Subaru), offer less interior room, and paint these days isn't too great on most automobiles (actually it has something to do with new safety regulations), plus the quality of US roads has really deteriorated (NJ area). Overall, for what the Lancer offers, it is not a bad choice in it's class and aesthetically speaking, it is the best looking car in this group in my opinion. Interior, compared to its class rivals is not any worse either. But if you start to compare Lancer to BMW/Lexus/Audi then you are talking about totally different price points. I don't think you can buy a brand-new car for around $20K from any of those 3 manufacturers.

^ I think when people where buying their cars they had Mazda, Toyota, Honda, Subaru in mind and not the higher end brands. Its like comparing apples to oranges in terms of price, quality, and preformance.

For a $20K family sedan car its pretty good.

Im sure alot of us are still young so we get older im sure we will move up the ladder but for now its the cheapest and best for its class.
