engine died 3rd time
Hey im soooooo sorry guys. Ive been sooo tied up with school and functions.. Just got back from a conference so now im more free.
okay so here goes:
I went to the dealership first thing in the morning. Everyone greeted me nicely and were on "my" side. I told them about the fuel leaking to the top of the motor, and the engine seizing. Told them that their staff told me this was all normal. (David, who sold me the car... and this other asian guy who worked at service, no longer there) This girl who was serving me told me to sign a contract stating a 49.99 service charge if whatever the problem was, is not covered under warranty. so i signed it because this is a warranty issue.
They took my keys and started checking the car. While the mechanic was checking, i was talking to other employees who worked at the service area. Everything seemed fine. I decided that this was gonna take longer than i thought so i sat down at the waiting area.
1.5 hours later, i get called up. she tells me that i have to pay the 49.99 +tax because they didn't find the problem.!!!!! we get into a huge argument over the 50 bucks because i shouldn't pay for something if nothing has been done.. there is clearly a problem. They saw the oil leak but wouldn't fix it because i did my own oil change and said it was my fault. I have to pay them for an oil change and if it happens again, they'll take another look (when i bought the car it was doing this from day 1 and i told them about it. I had complementary oil change cards so they did my first oil change... but it seems like it doesnt matter.
Anyways the girl keeps trying to convince me to pay. The blame for my car shutting off became: operator error and the Cat. They said i might have let go of the clutch and stalled it... (if im in neutral, you dont need to hold the clutch.) and then they blamed my aftermarket cat. I said that the Cat has nothing to do with the engine turning off. they said i have to put back my original cat then they have to re diagnose the problem.
So here is my argument. I came to them when i had my original Cat, and i had the same problem. But it was "normal"... so i decided to change the cat and i run into the same problem. Therefore its not a Cat issue...plus the cat is at the end of the combustion so it doesn't effect the engine. I said that they are charging my 50 bucks now and cant find the problem, and when i change it, they will still charge me 50 bucks and still wont find the problem.
The manager took me aside because we were getting a little loud and there was a customer becoming worried about her car now lol. I stated all the problems about this car (paint, alignment, airbag, and engine) i argued for another hour and finally my charge has been waived. They checked my profile and saw that i never complained about the stalling before. I was SHOCKED. I asked why would something not be there. and the manager said that they only put things on your profile if they thing its worth putting!!!!!
The manager said that the engine dying 3 times in 2 years is not a lot... and nothing to worry about!! WTF... i drive over 100 km a day on the highway.. yes its something to worry about. I asked him to check my profile RIGHT now and see if the girl put in that it died the 3rd time.... he said NO !!!!!!!!!!!!!! ... something is wrong here.... so this is my 3rd trip and there is nothing under my profile about this. So i FORCED him to type it in my profile that it shut off 3 times.. i was there for about 2.5 hours..
I brought up the Toyota case. If im complaining of an engine failure, and you're not listening, then who will? do i have to lose my life before you take action? Because there were many people who went to toyota dealerships about the sticky pedal issue. If the dealership owned the problem, people would not have died. Its not Mitsubishi's fault.... its the dealership's fault. very very poor management and customer service
Very very unhappy. i think im writing a letter to the president. if i missed some points, i'll edit this post as im in a rush and might have left out some details. Oh yeah... everyone agreed that the guy who is no longer working there knows nothing and shouldnt give advice.... hmmmm... I feel like taking this issue to the media. 10 years warranty...

FWIW....I have had all my service done at Mitsu Newmarket, and they have been very thorough and helpful. Even provided me with wiring diagrams for the car, so I can better understand the stereo installation. Any and all issues I have asked about have been addressed and answered in a timely manner, without any hassle. Also, never made any mention of the few mods I have.
Hope your issue gets fixed soon!

like I said, I think you guys need to see another dealer..
it would be no different going to honda with problems with your civic and the dealer dicking your around.. dosn't mean your honda is crap or you should go with another manufacture.. simply take your business else ware.
its not mitsu's rep that is getting worse its the dealers

but the problem is that i cannot get my car looked at under warranty at any other dealer. I have life time rust proofing which i must take to Markham... and im sure they will **** with my car the next time i bring it in
