Hey guys,

I was thinking of getting an after market alarm with a starter. I have the fast key that comes with an alarm, so is it okay to just get auto starter?

I was quoted 250 for Compustar Starter/alarm pager and 350 for install which is ridiculous. I ask if we need the alarm because, we have the immobilizer already

 

Install is always more expensive, the tricky part is trying to get the new alarm to work with the immoblizer or OEM alarm.

For a remote starter in the winter, yes but your car has a pretty good OEM alarm setup.

If you did alot of modding and made the car more desirable to steal then yes it would be worth it.

I have a buddy who works at Best Buy, he got it done at cost on his golf.
Apparently he can be 5km away and it will still start...I have no idea why they would make this range so big, when are you really going to be 5km away from your car?

 

i have a lot of family that lives about 5km or less from me... so it would be useful to know my car is safe during holiday get togethers..... but who wants to steal our cars anyways?
