i keep windows up..and if i get pulled over the dealership will be paying my bill they installed, it i had no say in what % it had. Sure you werent doin something else? havin a smoke or toke, or speeding or just doing a quick few shifts ..rule #1 when you see a cop..do Not look at him lol, keep eyes forward..sing to yourself or him is more funny when you look at him singing he defitely will just laugh to himself and carry on.

Cops need to pull over the people i see on a daily basis..not people with dark tint lol.

you would be correct, it is up to the officer for interpretation.

I did nothing. Im on my way homewith my grandparents i saw him on the other side and i looked at my mirror and saw him made a u turn. And he pulled me over, Gave me a ticket for dark tint. I told officer
That the guy that did my tint told me that 35% is legal.

Ohhh, officer told me if i get rid my tints on the front i can just go to office ( cant remeber the office name) and show a picture of my car that i took them off on my car, 99% they would just let me not pay the ticket.

Why would i take them off if i know its legal.
Really no tint is legal, but most people do it just cause they want too. The prosecutors office is what your referring too.

Its a conspiracy theory bro, they just want your money I guess. And easiest way to do it is by breaking the Highway Traffic Act.

For what it's worth, here is what the HTA says:

Colour coating obscuring interior

(3) No person shall drive on a highway a motor vehicle on which the surface of the windshield or of any window to the direct left or right of the driver's seat has been coated with any coloured spray or other coloured or reflective material that substantially obscures the interior of the motor vehicle when viewed from outside the motor vehicle. R.S.O. 1990, c. H.8, s. 73 (3).

Windows to afford clear view

74. (1) No person shall drive a motor vehicle upon a highway,

(a) unless the windshield and the windows on either side of the compartment containing the steering wheel are in such a condition as to afford the driver a clear view to the front and side of the motor vehicle; and

(b) unless the rear window is in such a condition as to afford the driver a clear view to the rear of the motor vehicle. R.S.O. 1990, c. H.8, s. 74 (1).

Application of cl. (1) (b)

(2) Clause (1) (b) does not apply to a motor vehicle that is equipped with a mirror or mirrors securely attached to the motor vehicle and placed in such a position and maintained in such a condition as to afford the driver, otherwise than through the rear window, a clearly-reflected view of the roadway in the rear or of any vehicle approaching from the rear. R.S.O. 1990, c. H.8, s. 74 (2).

In other words, all windows to the rear of the driver are open season to tints of any amount. The front windows cannot be so tinted that they obstruct, in essence, anyone (cops) from identifying you at any time.
The first part your very wrong about, I can put you in touch with a few insurance adjustors or agent to give you some feedback, but the second part you nailed right on the head. I'm guessing you study Police Foundations?

For the first part, that was info from my insurance agent (State Farm). Things which actually prove you to be a bad driver (ie: points normally associated) can increase your rates. A tint ticket can be received while stationary, are a reflection of the state of the machine, and not the skill (or lack thereof) of the driver. They have no grounds to increase rates.

Think like this: if you were driving your friend's car, is it still justified that you get a ticket for tints? Of course not, it was not and will never be your problem, and does not reflect an error in driving judgment. So, even if it is your car, this does not prove that you are a danger on the roads. Same goes for any environmental violations. This is how it was explained to me, but I do suppose that other companies might not see it the same.

That said, still fight it. Why have anything on your record at all?

as for the second part: nope.

Odd, my state farm guy said anything showing on your drivers abstract will have a negative rating on your insurance. My friend is an adjuster for TD and she agrees.

Second part: = GOOD

I'm currently in Police Foundations... This was taken right from the HTA:

HTA, Sec. 73 (2-3)...
(2) Colour coating obstructing view prohibited- No person shall drive a motor vehicle upon a highway where the surface of the windshield or of any window of the vehicle has been coated with any colour spray or other colour coating in such a manner as to obstruct the driver's view of the highway or any intersecting highway.
(3) Colour coating obstructing interior- No person shall drive on a highway a motor vehicle on which the surface of the WINDSHIELD OR OF ANY WINDOW TO THE DIRECT LEFT OR RIGHT OF THE DRIVER'S SEAT has been coated with any coloured spray or other colour or reflective material that substantially obscures the interior of the motor vehicle when viewed from outside the motor vehicle.

Basically that means that there is no set % on tint, BUT if the cop feels like being a douche he can get you...

Just fight it, odds are the cop is not gonna show up for court, because he has other things to deal with than a petty tint ticket.

suprPHREAK is a cop in markham if I recall correctly... I think he knows what he's talking about. I would advise to follow his direction on the taking pictures with a dslr ect...

If you show up to court with nothing and say my tint guy said it is legit, you will look like a fool.

and odds are the cop will show up for court.. 9 times of 10 I'd say they are there unless they have a very good reason for missing.

If it were me, I'd pay the ticket and be done with it.. me taking off a day of work to go fight a $110 ticket would cost me more then the ticket itself.

What sucks is, the way the law is worded, essentially any tints on the front aren't allowed. Technically, all tints obstruct view. But most cops dont care if its not too dark. IE dealer tints where the front look as if there is almost no tint at all. 35% is ridiculous to get pulled over for though.
Anything darker though, like my 17s, you probably Wont win.
