Shorter exhaust hanger?

Hi,

I installed a Greddy SE about 2 years ago on my Lancer GTS, I've noticed that it seems to hang somewhat low from the bumper (almost 2 inch gap from the "notch" in the bumper) compared to the stock exhaust did.

I've left it as is for awhile but wanted to know if anyone else had a similar experience and if there's something like a shorter rubber exhaust hanger I could use to raise it up slightly?

I can take a pic later if anyone's curious to the gap I'm talking about.

Thanks!
Bryan

Sounds like your exhaust wasn't installed properly or is loose because I have Greddy SE and theres no where near 2'' there

Bryan, it shouldnt hang that low. look at my image below. see the hanger that is holding it up. Perhaps yours is missing or slipped off its hook.

Here's a pic I took. It doesn't look far off from yours Sean, maybe slightly lower? I definitely need to polish mine to get back as shiny as yours is!

Actually, taking a closer look at the pics it seems like it might be slightly angled downwards? Any idea why that may be?

I took another picture of my hanger in the rear similar to yours, does it seem kind of stretched out compared to how yours looks?

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Bryan

Bryan,
Position the rubber hanger closer to the end. It should lift up your tailpipe. Looking at the pics, your hanger is slipping closer to the bend.

Hey Is this the Greddy Spectrum Elite SE? I didn't see it as compatible on Greddy's Site. Wondering which one this is...

Yep it is, Sean is/was running one on his Lancer too. I noticed they don't have it on their website anymore (maybe discontinued due to changes in exhaust location on the 2012?) but it definitely exists!

What type of clamp did you envision? Not sure which clamp would hold well enough and not damage rubber while maintaining enough grip to not fly off during some bumps on the highway

Thanks for all your ideas guys!

Spectrum Elite has been dscontinued early last year - no longer available. It was replaced by a cheaper version - SP.

Take a look at the other hanger of the axle back - at the connection to the midpipe. If it is bolted in the upper of the two threaded holes in the rear chasis, you need to relocate it into the lowed one. Trust me, the tip will go up as the axle back will pivot on the spherical connection to the midpipe. The actual pivot point will be the hanger near the tip of the axle back. - I used to have SE myself.

Hmm, that very well might be it! I will climb under this evening and see where I had installed it originally. The SP didn't come with any install instructions and had to scratch my head a bit originally figuring out how it was supposed to connect up!

Thanks again everyone for your input, really appreciate it

Bryan

Just wanted to post an update, I followed Oksamit's advice and relocated the bolt to the rear frame from the top threaded hole to the bottom one and this levelled out the exhaust nicely.

Thanks again to everyone on here for their help!

Now I just need to polish it up a little! Any suggestions on what to use to polish the exhaust tip?

Thanks!
