What type of cams? - Revolver vs. Jun

I really want some cams and want some with more lift than HKS. The new revolvers seem to be a good price with the valvetrain components and the Jun have an established record. I don't know if I should get 264 or 272 Jun's (i have heard 272s won't idle w/ the stock MAF)

I am wanting to do this before you come down for the Dallas dyno tune day so any reply would be nice.

thanks

i've done some homework on the jun's.272-don't even try it if your on stock turbo ecu.264-are overkill also.i wanted the whole jun set-up,but i'll have to wait for a stand alone.you really can't look at jun until 400whp imho.

Monkey, the reason the HKS are popular is because they match up well with the stock turbo. Are you about to get an aftermarket turbo? You don't want too big of a cam with a FI setup.

My understand with Cams and Idel is that the stock MAF is not the issue with Idel. With high lift duration cams the cars mis fire at idle and because of the mis fire the stock closed lop fuel trim witch is trying to run 14.7a/f via the front 02. Now I don't know anyone that can recode the closed loop trim on the stock ecu and take care of the miss fire. If there was not miss fire the stock ecu could adjust the fuel trip for perfect idel.

But I could be completely wrong. my sharing my .02c.

Cody - I do not know if I want a larger turbo. It is a possibility. I just want more tq and I know that lift helps give some tq. Plus I want an 8000+ redline and I know new springs and retainers will help me achieve that, both of the cams I mentioned require new springs

You want an 8K redline you also need to start thinking about your rotating assembly coming apart. ARP rod bolts, etc etc. You have to ask yourself if it's worth the money. Is the power difference of 8K vs. 7.5K going to justify the cost of rebuilding your valvetrain with stronger parts and installing rod bolts and whatever else is necessary when you are running the stock turbo which runs out of breath at 7K and 21 psi anyways? Not to me.

I already have ARP, but I guess I will just incorperate that into the price of a new turbo if/when I get one.

Cody - you did a great job talking me into HKS. Now to just pick some up

Make sure you know I mean rod bolts and not headstuds.

Get your HKS Cams from GSC Motorsports. They made me a fine deal. Ask for Greg.
