Question disappointing dyno results

Hey Mark-

While i really appreciate all the effort you guys made trying to figure out my low #'s this past weekend

(298 WHP & 314 TQ even with the new 272/272 cams-)

I was wondering, while you hooked up your own boost gauge because mine was being sticky, is it possible that I simply have a boost leak or leak(s) which would account for the loss of power after 5K?

I plan on doing a boost leak test.

however, i will be curious to see if that is what is causing the infamous siren noise I hear so lightly audible at 3-5K. I wonder if that is the turbine----I'll check that and let you know.

just wanted to get your take on it.

p.s.- the cam install definitely made more power thst I could feel...I just know that there is so much power left on the table which i could easily scoup up if I can find the problem.
John

No adjustable cam gears? So they are installed with stock gears?
boost leak is possible, but if that's teh case, you should be able to see it in the dyno graph where the power start dipping at higher RPM. Were you able to hold boost steady? What boost level and fuel grade?

yeah- no gears-just cams

93 octane as usual-

torque hits a high of 314 at like 3,500RPM but then dies after about 5K

boost always spikes to about 22-23 and then tapers off to 20.5- hallman MBC controlling it.

I have the same mods and before going to tuned I did a boost leak and I change the spark plugs.. they help a lot and I end it up with 339.5 at 22psi also I had the cam gears -2-2 is not much difference

Talking a possible solution?

Mark and all-

yo, so in my boredom even with it being 9 Million f'in degress out- I pulled the intake out- pull all the hoses and checked the turbine. no problems there..no movement and no scraping. so that's good...obviously.

I tried to do a boost leak test absed off of the simple little units you can make - but, i obviously did something wrong as I had ZERO effects on my boost gauge- oh well.

so, I was disappointed as I was hoping to find a boost leak- but, I made sure that ever little f'in hose a nd clamp was torqued like a mother.

no, my boost gauge wasn't at all "sticky" as it alwyas had been in the past. the siren noise which I have been complaining about is gone.......

the car pulls like all hell0 and Mark, if you're right that there was something up with your dyno- I'm pumped to see what I will REALLY put down.

thanks
John

Unhappy crapper- CEL

Up pops a CEL today -so i connect the OBD II and what is it?

Random misfire.

is this due to stock plugs? Please tell me "highly likely John" as that's simple. I just hope that it's not a symptom of a larger issue being that the new cams were just installed.

Hey mark- any work on the dyno? working well? not so well? fill me in
thanks
